Marley made an effort to pack an actual lunch Wednesday morning. She was going to try, she had to try, not just for herself, but for everyone she loved. She sat at a lunch table in the courtyard and sipped her iced tea as she waited for Ryder to show up, apprehensive about what he had to tell her. He hadn’t seemed right, and it worried her. They weren’t in love anymore, but she cared about him deeply and nothing could change it.
