i would if i had a better handle on basics so i could make judgements about which ideas and theories are bullshit and which ones aren’t!! for language origins especially every single idea is like, ‘CRITICISMS: GROUP X AND Y THINKS THIS GROUP Z IDEA IS GARBAGE’ and ‘agreed upon’ ‘consensus’ is surprisingly scarce

my gf is just mad bc she decided to make herself write a 4500 line poem about earth history with 1 line per every million years and if i decided to do the same w my hyperfixation i would only have to write 2 lines

me too lol! tho the traumatizing part for me definitely being yk, the completely 6-year-old’s-faith-in-humanity-destroying hunting-down of ET by the humans lol, not ET himself.

the formative aspects of the movie is very much the way it p much like, permanently and pre-emptively nipped any possibility for me to ever enjoy or accept any alien invasion movie ever again. idk there’s just something about being introduced to the concept of aliens visiting earth via ‘scared alien kid who got separated from his alien botanist parents while they were sneaking around fangirling over Super Cool Exotic Plants from some lame woods in new jersey’ that really just uhhhhhh throws the utterly rotten-to-the-core bad-faith of the entire premise of the Alien Invasion Genre into so stark a relief that even something as otherwise good as Pacific Rim can’t make it palatable. i’m an extremely predictable person lmao

thank you lol! it comes from my general annoyance with the fandom/popular description of utena which is ‘it’s gay’ when it’s much differently focused and more interesting than that, and really interfered with my understanding and absorption of it when i first watched it.

only a couple of the people are easy to guess tbh!

otoh the reverse also works. eg, we were watching the untamed and ivana said of nie huaisang, ‘aww he has such smallness nature’, and i was like ‘[mutual] is really into him’ and she was like ‘oh.....that gives me some hints about where his arc is going’

i misread it as "is Arwen a balrog" and was truly floored by trying to imagine which feat of thought could lead to that idea: was honestly looking forward to finding out :P Arien makes much more sense. Also: yes to her being a balrog, cool idea!
