Did you know? For extended scenes where Anakin had to carry an unconscious Obi-Wan, the Creature Shop made a lifelike and lightweight foam rubber dummy of Ewan McGregor for Hayden Christensen to haul. It was named "Foamy-Wan Kenobi."

Never let it be said that Hayden Christensen didn't carry the real Ewan McGregor, though, because he absolutely did. 💪

"I was in Artoo’s last scene and it was quite weird,” Ewan McGregor remembers. “I found myself quite choked up about it, about this robot, you know.”

Anakin "translates" for Artoo in this deleted scene that should have never been cut from 'Revenge of the Sith.'

Ewan McGregor on 'Revenge of the Sith' in Vanity Fair: "It was all green screen: they had us on green disks on a green floor with a green background, and a guy on the floor rotating us like chickens, as we lunged at each other with lightsabers.

What keeps you emotionally grounded is the other actor. Ep. II, I was on my own, speaking to thin air. But this scene was harrowing for Obi-Wan. I lose Anakin, and we see the danger if what it might lead to in Eps. IV, V, and VI.

For all my moaning about green screen, I did enjoy playing Obi-Wan and this link to Alec Guinness.

It was upsetting when people would laugh and joke about [the prequels]. Now, many years later, they mean a lot to the generation that were kids then. So from smirking, cynical opinions, now I'm getting feedback from the kids they were made for. I'm really happy about that." (x)

While waiting to do their first scene together, Ewan McGregor joked to Natalie Portman about her character's amorous relationship with Anakin: "Yoda has become fiercely jealous," he said and she laughed.

"It was so exciting to do substantive scenes with Ewan this time, because I respect him so much as an actor. He's really serious about the work, but he also lightens up the set," Portman recalled.

This is one of my favorite scenes in 'Revenge of the Sith,' possibly even the whole prequel trilogy, and one of the reasons is because I just love how soft and kind and almost ~sparkly Obi-Wan's eyes are.

(And also you can tell that he truly loves Anakin and believes in him and is proud of the man he's become. 🥺)
