Then you've already decided." "No, I—" "It's fine, darling." It isn't. Hurt is a corrosive, thunderous tide, barely bitten back.

As though he's scared of his own appetite. It raises hackles of rejection, the edges of hurt. "I'm no good at this, being close to people." atmosphere:

There's a delightful hum in the base of Gale's skull at the prospect of being taken care of. Thoroughly. That he can simply... hand over his thoughts, his choices, to Astarion, has been something they've edged around. Does it need putting into words? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Gale doesn't know where they'd even start. But for now, for then, for this, it feels good, and he trusts Astarion more than anyone. And that's enough. That might be everything he needs.
