Finishes Hibi Chouchou in one day.
The first half of the manga was a good, steady run. It was not draggy - people who said otherwise are just not used to two SILENT people come together. Suiren, despite being so quiet, was actually very bold and proactive. She worked on those feelings, made sure Kawasumi knew she only looked at him, held his hand, confessed to him, and hugged him! ❤️
I also loved that both of them set their sights on their own dreams and identities - Kawasumi becoming a doctor and Suiren learning to be a pastry chef. This is a good indication of a healthy relationship, when your goals are not centered around each other but when you both work towards them together.
The latter half really fell apart. Wished they fleshed out Aya/Ryosuke ship earlier and not jam it in the last two chapters. It was very evident that she had feelings early on but these were disregarded. Atohira was annoying - what with his random poking into Suiren and Kawasumi's relationship - but I also wished both him and Koharu had their closures wrapped up, like before graduation or sometime earlier. 😔
So yes, I'm a sucker for strong, quiet type of guys with this kind of resolve. Maybe I should finish Kimi ni Todoke. 🤔
