Debbie tried to suppress a laugh . The singer loved to surround herself with good vibes at all times . That and people that made her laugh , not in the mean spirited way however . More like the carefree attitude that she loved to exude . Debbie hadn’t met him too many times previously . Enough to get a sense of who he was . “ Oh yes . A complete blessing . “ Said in a dry way before her painted red lips spread into a big smile which only lit her features up more . “ Why don’t I buy you a drink . Your choice hm ? I could use the company , it seems I’ve been abandoned by my band mates . “

Said with a bright laugh . Even Chris , her partner in everything  . He was probably in the bathroom , or went to go and network the room . Taking pictures . That sort of thing that he loved to do . “ You know this would actually be easier if the waitress was here . “ The woman then noticed the area surrounding them was heavy on traffic at the moment . Debbie had a lot of respect for waitresses , having been one in her youth before all of this . “ So , what have you been working on recently ? “

               ❝ Well, I won’t say no to a free drink, especially if it’s from you. ❞ James leans across the table and gives her a grin. He’s already pretty coked up and alcohol isn’t really a good idea, but who says he’s ever been one for good ideas? ❝ Ah, looks like my bandmates have abandoned me, too, but that’s probably no accident. ❞ He absentmindedly runs a hand through his hair and makes a mental note to himself to get it bleached again in the near future.                 ❝ I’m sure one of them will notice our plight eventually. My first job was as a barman at the local Wetherspoons. Lasted three fuckin’ weeks. ❞ James shakes his head at the memory, almost as if it’s from a different life. It may as well be, as far as he’s concerned. ❝ Oh, y’know, been touring, and writing, and all that bullshit, and we’re supposed to go back to the studio in a few weeks, and I probably won’t come out for the next two months. That’s just how I work. How about you, then? ❞

Los Angeles, February 1977. 

Queen had stopped by in Los Angeles for a few tour dates and as always, Roger was off going to parties, listening to a multitude of songs from new bands on the rise whenever he wasn’t preoccupied with parties and other sorts of band-related affairs they had to attend for the sake of promoting their album from the last few months, titled “A Day At the Races”. Of those bands, Roger had discovered Blondie, a group from New York that was part of the CBGB’s circuit with a talented young woman as their lead singer. A little bird informed him that said band (and said singer) was currently in the area for a few shows of their own, information that motivated him to want to see them for himself.

It was at a venue called The Roxy, a small venue in West Hollywood that often took in newer bands to help bring them up and into the Los Angeles music scene properly; the perfect place to witness a band on the rise. And so, the drummer dressed himself down, not wanting to draw too much attention to himself (just enough) before taking his night off and using his celebrity status to get into an already packed club. It was there that he found himself a place by the bar, his gaze solely set onto the stage when the band clamoured onstage and settled into position, ready to start their show with a roar of applause and there she was, the blonde singer herself demanding attention without so much as a stern gaze over the crowd. It was safe to say that the drummer was already transfixed on her, unable to focus on anyone else.
