          Given the courage it took to bring it up in the first place, it was relief that swept over him when she brought the conversation to where he’d hoped it would go.

          He nodded adding softly, “That is why I mentioned it–

         “The area was unexplorable before, but the civilians who moved in and set up... condensors there managed to clear a path. Takes less than an hour to walk to it. Could do it today if you wanted, but another time is just as well if that’s preferable...”

     Thomas had been sat next to the man, but their drinks had run dry. With a sigh, he stood, glancing down at Richter. “Irradiated water, yeah?” He asked with a half grin, moving to take a step toward fetching more when he caught the untied lace of his boot. He stumbled forward, yelping softly as he toppled, unable to catch himself and landing in a heap, half sat on Richter’s lap.

   “Oops?”

          He’d been considering treating himself a shot of whiskey when the other man spoke up. A shade of surprise showed on the Zealot’s features over the offer - and though it was the pleasant sort that element remained hidden.

         “All right,” he answered– only to witness the other fall and half catch him, strong arms quick to assist him back up and away from his lap.

i have a random far harbor richter question bc i just finished the dlc (so spoilers for the pro-DiMa ending): im curious if Richter would notice if Tektus was replaced and what he'd do about that, bc DiMa seemed to think they the Children would just go along with whatever the High Confessor says but Tektus and Richter have such history, it made me curious

ahhh i have a couple thoughtssss!

the game shows ( through in game notes / dialogue / dialogue notes ) that richters loyal but also that he and tektus dont always see eye to eye. and richter isnt always tektuss first choice to handle situations so imo theyre not like 1000% best friends with no secrets between them. plus richters often saying people dont always understand atoms will and you shouldnt question your path or purpose so hes in a prime position to not catch on that tektus has been replaced… and this is especially true given synth replacements arent a great fear on the island like they are in the commonwealth -its possible most people there have no idea its even a thing

so by default i headcanon richter would notice tektus had changed but he wouldnt come to the conclusion its because this is a synth. nor is he one hundred percent ok with it tho - because hed feel like the past is being ignored (they may not share everything but im certain they have things between them dima wouldnt know [ especially given the way the real tektus did loads of shady things ]... i think richter would feel like tektus is just ignoring him tho because richter speaks in subtle ways anyway

so it would take something like finding the actual tektuss body or someone else knowing it was done to introduce the idea into richters head... and then it would be bad because hed want revenge and he does have some leadership skills so i headcanon hed end up putting the children back on a path of war against far harbor and acadia lol

by default though, despite his stern demeanor, he seems more lenient and forgiving than tektus so its not like tektus change in personality is as abrasive as it would be if he had been more warmongering on his own

( its interesting because if you talk to him and theil after the fact he will say ‘its not our place to question’ while shell initially say ‘that doesnt make sense’... richters in a higher place of authority but hes still not so inclined to think for himself compared to others )

anyway i rp different verses with different outcomes for this situation bc theres lots of little things that make big differences hehehe
