You know how when you're little and somebody gets upset with you that little voice in your head tells you that, if you died suddenly and tragically, they'd feel really bad about being mean to you? Well, that voice is Friar Francis from Much Ado About Nothing. And you know what? He's kinda right.

Spoilers for Much Ado About Nothing and Pride and Prejudice below. Again, I know both are old but I know there are folks who have yet to experience these great works. :)

Much Ado About Nothing and Pride and Prejudice both have major plot points rooted in the fear/idea of a woman's sexual purity being erased yet the circumstances of those plot points can still feel relevant today when you remove the importance on virginity.

In Much Ado About Nothing, I would say in modern times you would still be quite shocked if you were hanging out with you buddies the night before your wedding and it seemed very much like you all saw your fiancée cheating on you!

In Pride and Prejudice, I think you and your family would all still be frightened and upset if your 16 year old younger sister ran off with an older, unscrupulous man to an unknown location and with no way to contact her!

Like the 'sexual purity loss' element doesn't carry through the same way anymore but both of those situations still invoke strong emotions.
