“Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has now lasted longer than the 1941–1945 war between the Nazi Third Reich and the USSR – 1418 days.
During this war, Russia has committed atrocities on Ukrainian soil on a scale and brutality unprecedented since WWII. Yet it has failed to break Ukraine or the spirit of our people.
Over this period, Russia has not achieved a single strategic objective of its aggression. Instead, it has suffered enormous losses, with more than 1.2 million killed and wounded, along with massive losses in military equipment.
As Russia escalates its terror in the midst of winter in another attempt to undermine Ukraine’s resistance and international unity, now is precisely the right moment to increase pressure on Moscow through additional tough sanctions and to provide enhanced support for Ukraine.
Ukraine stays strong and remains firmly committed to working closely with the United States and our European allies to bring closer a lasting peace and ensure long-term security in Europe”, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated.
