It is with a heavy heart that the admins have decided to close Across the Sea. This is a decision that the admins feel is a long time coming, and we want to thank everyone for your contributions to this roleplay, and all of the work and effort that was made in developing your characters. We enjoyed getting to play with and getting to know all of you and wish you all the best of luck.

Hey everyone, we wanted to touch base with you all on a couple things that we have been noticing lately:
Starters - Lately very few people are that are open to everyone. This is not something that we are okay with for a couple of reasons. 1) It makes it really hard to interact with everyone if you don’t have ways for characters to interact. 2) It can be the loss of some pretty amazing plots to appear as some of the best plots come from the most random connections. Without starters, we aren’t doing anything to fuel these interactions. And that is not fair to everyone. 3) It’ll make people feel excluded that they only get a couple of replies a day, while others get a lot. That also isn’t fair to players, especially when they want to interact with everyone. There is a lot of drama on the dash, however there can always be more. And we want to see that more rather than less. 4) It starts to form cliques, which then turns to bubble roleplaying, which are do not want to be seeing.
Answering starters - Another problem is that the starters that we do have are not being answered. We recommend looking through the starter tag every 2-3 days to see if there is anything new - and then finding a way to answer it. This is another way to make sure that these new plots and connections form.
These are things that everyone can work on, and everyone should work on. It’s not fair to players if people are only writing starters for certain people as that does lead to bubble roleplaying. And if it does continue, consequences are going to follow. Please like this post to show that you understand.

Hey everyone,
Due to player requests and in honor of us releasing our second batch of skeletons, we have decided to allow for people to play three characters effective immediately. However while it only takes a week of activity to apply for a second character, it will take at least a month of good activity to be able to apply for a third. We look forward to seeing the new characters that people want to take, and can’t wait to see what new drama will be on the dash!

Hey guys just a couple of things that we wanted to let you know about.
There has been a little bit of a shakeup with our admin team. Due to time constraints both Chase and Tyler had to step down as admins. However we’re very lucky that Hayley is once again able to step back into her original admining role. So for the moment it will just be Ash and Hayley as the admins, and so if you ever need anything please let one of us know.
We will be releasing our next batch of skeletons starting TONIGHT! We’re really excited to start sharing these next 40 characters with you, and can’t wait to start seeing them on the dash.

It is TMI Tuesday once again! Remember that there are two ways that you can get involved:
IC Questions: These are just regular asks that people can send to other players that must be answered in character. Remember that in our world these answers will be posted on Hummingbird for everyone to potentially see, so if you feel like your character would not participate don’t feel like you need to do so. If you feel like your character would welcome these questions, please make sure to create a linked post to your ask box that says “TMI Tuesday” “Honesty Hour” etc. so that people know to send them to you.
OOC Questions: We shortly will be reblogging a headcanon meme that should be answered out of character. These allow for multiple different headcanons about your character to be answered and will not be able to be seen by the other characters. This can be used as a type of character development or for fun for the players who feel like their characters would not participate in option number one. We do ask that you only stick to the two headcanon memes that we post. One will be in the morning and the other in the afternoon. If you are interested in participating in these please reblog the meme. Also, to avoid confusion, please make sure to mark OOC at the beginning of your answer as a reminder to everyone else that their characters won’t be able to see it.
Last months brought on a lot of drama, so we can’t wait to see what happens as a result this month!

Hey everyone! Just a couple of quick things that we wanted to let you know:
Our first event was a complete success! Thank you to everyone for their amazing plot blasts, but also for making this event a complete and total success. If you have not posted your plot blast prompt yet, you will have until tomorrow night at midnight EST or you will be unfollowed without warning due to not being able to complete a required task. Please also make sure you put a setting date with one of the ones from conferences.
Tomorrow is our second TMI Tuesday. So feel free to start thinking about those questions and I will be reblogging two different headcanon memes to the main tomorrow. Be prepared for craziness to go down on the dash!

Event: Parent Teacher Conferences
We are so excited to start our event TOMORROW! We’ve already heard from so many people who have been working on their plot
Parent Interactions - As we said before we will allow for parents to be interacted with, however we do have a couple of rules when it comes to them.
Characters must be with their parent in the starter - Basically we don’t want starters that are just the parent alone. Parents do not have to stay for the whole interaction, but characters do have to. So characters may not wander off and leave their parents to have interactions with someone. If you want to headcanon with people that they met someone’s parent without the character being there that is completely fine and up to you.
Parents may have gifs in your convos - We as admins do think that it would be interesting to see things like THIS which then would allow for you to see about how the parent is interacting. However we also understand that sometimes finding resources can be hard, so if parent interactions need to be like THIS that is perfectly fine as well. Whatever you decide is up to you.
Any interactions with parents must be written out - This is just to make sure that people know who is talking. Even if it is just a “he/she/they said” or “-insert person’s name here- explained” it’ll just make it easier for everyone to know exactly who is talking.
Plot Blast Prompts - Remember these need to be posted at some point during the event. This is required, and if you’re having any issues with your prompt, please let us know ASAP. These need to be posted by October 2 at 11:59 PM EST. Please also tag them with “atsplot” and “atsconferences” so that people can find them and read.
Starters - During the event we ask that you title your starters with “Parent Teacher Conferences” and if your character’s parents are involved also include Feat. the parents name. So for example if Lucas was going to have a starter with his father it would be titled “Parent Teacher Conferences Feat. Samuel Elliot.” All starters also need to be tagged with both “atsstarter” and “atsconferences” We also ask that nobody answer any of the event starters or post new ones after October 2nd when the event ends, but you are more than welcome to continue convos after that time.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please feel message the main and we will be happy to help you. Tomorrow morning there will be a welcome post from Principal Llewelyn-Aikens, and after that all event interactions will be able to start! We can’t wait to see what this weekend has to offer!
