I recently told my friend to watch attack on Titan. Upon further conversation she told me she shipped Krista and Sasha. Please help me steer her in the right direction of krista and Ymir Thank

im guessing thats based on the one scene when krista gives sasha food/water/whatever after shadis made her run all day? yes sasha is like in awe of krista but the same would go if it was anyone else really

so the really great thing about this scene is it’s pretty much the only one the anime covers that actually gives krista or ymir any depth

like yeah yeah krista is a saint ooh look at her helping out sasha but then BAM ymir just calls her out on it like THAT. because ymir is the only person who sees through krista’s bullshit, who recognizes that the goddess actually has ulterior motives, albeit fairly internalized ones. the point is that we wouldnt even know this if ymir hadnt known it, or that she was the type of person who would be willing to shatter the illusion someone else had created.

because thats the thing. ymir and krista are foil for each other in terms of projected personality. krista is very meticulous about being a “good person” and even though she does care about her friends, she’s still sort of using them as a way to validate herself. on the other hand, theres ymir, who while despite being secretive and distant with her personal life is at least honest with how she presents herself temperament-wise: she’s got the “worst” personality (her words in the manga), she makes fun of her peers, and she doesnt censor herself. so in this sense, theyre opposites, which makes their interactions all the more interesting.

i guess what i love is that ymir is not afraid to confront her about this. not only did she notice, but she called krista out. and i think that just shows just as much about ymir’s nature as it does krista’s.

i mean youre obviously not going to get that deep into their character development with just the anime’s first season, because their arcs come later on. just as a general thing, ymir and krista reveal more about themselves later on and it’s great.

i could talk forever about these two but if you want to describe it from a shipping perspective use this fact:

a good number of official bios (on websites or with merchandise) reaffirm ymir’s canon feelings of romantic love towards krista (plus the occasional mention of krista’s affections for her though those have not been confirmed romantic or platonic as of now). and then there’s all the official art. and the one chibi ova/short/video where ymir is trying to go on a date with her tiny bae

conclusion: it’s canon that ymir is hella gay and krista just wants to be with ymir.

also if youre gonna ship sasha with someone choose mikasa, connie or jean. not to bash those of you who ship her with krista tho.
