Studying Theology
Things First-Years Should know
Take a seat in the front. Why? It’s nearer to the teacher, it also makes a coping mechanism when the teacher has a soft voice. In the back, you will easily get distracted.
Please have an open mind. This attitude is VERY IMPORTANT.
Always bring an umbrella, for best and worst-case scenarios in regards to the weather.
Always go to class. Attendance is graded and the more you attend class, the higher the possibility you will be able to pass the class.
Please keep a bullet journal/planner/checklist with you for time management purposes. My journal literally saved my life in my first year as a college student.
In regards to time management, please PRIORITIZE. You have a test tomorrow at 10:20 AM but also, tomorrow is an anime con you want to go to. Put first things first.
Be responsible. It’s not high school, darling. The teacher will not always remind you about dates and submissions.
Maximize your resources. Google is your best friend. The library is your new ally.
Keep track of all your money. College will cut so much on money - for photocopying all those readings, for the plays you have to watch.
Study and do things in advance. It really lessens the chance of procrastination.
Be true to yourself. In college, you will meet many people who will be fake to you, and you will meet people who will accept you for who you are. Stay grounded, think of what’s and who is good for you. Please avoid toxic people.
Strive to work harder and become better.
Drink lots of water.
Enjoy your college years. Be prepared to be overwhelmed, be prepared for new learning experiences.
