What is your favorite thing about OHSHC?
Ouran High School Host Club is filled with so many wonderful things, I’m not sure how I’ll ever choose one!
Maybe it’s the lighthearted air about the show, or the goofy characters. Maybe it’s that some of the things those boys do are so ridiculously unbelievable, or maybe it’s the memories that come with that first time I watched it. (But that’s a story for another time.)
My favorite thing about Ouran has to be the characters. Kaoru Hitachiin is my favorite, but I adore all of them. I love how dramatic Tamaki is, how mysterious Kyoya is, and how Haruhi is done with the entire host club’s bullshit. I love how mischievous the twins are, how sweet Honey is, and how protective Mori is. All of those characters have a special place in my heart, and make me feel more confident in myself for some reason.
What made you get into anime?
ahahaHA, funny story...
My brother got into anime first. He watched Sword Art Online, followed by Attack On Titan. While he didn’t enjoy SAO that much, he adored Attack On Titan and begged for my sister and I to watch it so he could share his love for this show with somebody.
I ignored his pleas. I was too busy with the amount of My Chemical Romance fanfiction I was writing (@/yelyahkilljoys on Wattpad if y’all are MCR fans and want to hit that up). My brother never gave up, though, and eventually won my sister over.
My sister watched Attack On Titan and she LOVED it. It was like an addiction for both of my siblings, and I continued to say no and only read my books. I began to dislike anime for the sole reason that the two of them talked about it so often.
My Hero Academia. Death Note. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. My siblings watched more and more anime, and I soon began to not understand a word of their conversations because they were loaded with references and jokes that I didn’t understand.
I don’t recall how, but my siblings convinced me to watch the the first two episodes of Attack On Titan, and I enjoyed them a fair amount, but I was nowehere near crazy about it. Their constant conversations about it still annoyed me to no end, and I dare say I might have hated anime.
One day, my sister showed me a photo of a character from Attack On Titan. He was a handsome gentleman with onyx hair and was rather short and if I recall that day correctly, I believe the piece was fan art of him blushing. To my dismay, I found him to be rather cute.
I asked for his name. My sister told me it was Levi Ackerman. I wanted to see more photos of him, and she happily obliged.
I fell in love. My sister told me that I only had to watch until episode four to see Levi in the show, so I decided that I must, but then I got hooked. It was August 11th, 2018. I stayed up all night on the edge of my seat, my eyes glued to the screen. I had talked so much smack about how I would never watch anime, so I figured that I shall never tell my siblings that I was watching a show I had protested against for so long.
We share a Funimation account, which means our watching history is linked. My brother found out the next morning because he had gotten on the account to watch Fairy Tail, and he could see that I had been watching Attack On Titan the previous evening. My siblings were ecstatic, and I was thrilled to finally get all the references.
I fell in love with Attack On Titan. I adored it’s characters. It’s plotline never bored me. The artwork dazzled me. I became obsessed. I watched Attack On Titan: Junior High after finishing the main series, and then proceeded to read the manga, along with it’s prequel and other spin off stories.
I’m so grateful that I finally caved and watched Attack On Titan. It changed my life and helped me through so much. To this day, Levi Ackerman is still my anime husband.
And that’s the story of how I fell in love with anime.
What is your favorite thing about Attack on Titan?
Attack On Titan was my first anime, and there are so many marvelous things about it.
I think my favorite thing might have to be how the characters never give up. They have endless perseverance and determination. Through all the hard times, they never back down and never forfeit their dreams to the cruel world that they live in. They give me the strength to keep going. That show got me through one of the hardest moments in my life.
If you want to talk about your life I'm more than willing to listen and offer some support or whatever if that's what you need. Love this blog by the way 💕
You have absolutely no idea how much hearing this means to me 😭💗 Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
