       “he’s... he’s just tired. we had a bit of a rough night last night. here, i’ll-- let me.” and by that she means that every night is a rough night. jamie has never once slept longer than three hours at a time, and his crying is really starting to piss off her uncle -- and then jamie can’t get back to sleep because of his yelling, and the whole cycle continues. jane can’t think of another time in her life when she was this exhausted.

    she takes the baby back and lays him against her thighs, hushing him. it has absolutely no effect.

          FINGERS  MOVE  CAREFULLY THROUGH  the other’s hair, the room silent. his free hand holds shay’s, their fingers intertwined. bodhi brings shay’s hand to his lips, a gentle kiss pressed to his knuckles. ❝ do you wanna go upstairs ? ❞ he speaks softly, baby blues focused on the man resting in his lap. bodhi presses a kiss to his forehead before shifting to sit a little straighter. ❝ c’mon, baby, let’s go lay down.. ❞

          ❝ you’re not friends with MY kids, right ? ❞ he squints as he looks to the other, arms folded across his chest. he knows the kid, seen him around emery and when he makes the rare visit to mateo throughout the week. the thought of shay aguilar knocking on his door, however, never crossed nuka’s mind. he steps out of the way, a silent invite and the only one the boy will get. ❝ y’need somethin’ ? ‘cause ‘m sure ya can get some money outta emery and ya daddy ain’t too popular ‘round here. ❞ he’s lying, of course -- the beef between rafael and nicki has STAYED between the two. nuka doesn’t have time for it. but those fatherly instincts that he cannot deny have kicked in, and he’s offering shay a seat. ❝ somethin’ happen ? ❞
