9 & 15 for the Detective Conan asks. 👀
It always makes me happy seeing that you enjoy the show too. 💕
:D Well thank you (and everyone else as well who's sent in asks so far!) for indulging me! I would say most folks follow this blog for other things, so. Always nice to get a few DCMK fans in my ask box.
9. Favorite Minor Character
I don't know what constitutes a minor character in Detective Conan anymore but here we go!
15. How did you get into Detective Conan?
I blame @jettidaughter
Honest question: do most people find it easier/more pleasant to read longer works on AO3?
Would clicking a link from here to there be ok?

i didn't get any sliced shots, alas, but i did a pretty ok job! my coworkers were very complimentary; also, it made them laugh. i didn't manage to bring any home for my family, either -- i left before things would down fully and left it there for the stragglers (and clerk t better remember my cake carrier, server, and Big Knife on tuesday!) -- but they said nice things about the scraps i left them from leveling the tops of the cakes.
@renee-mariposa the reconstituted powdered buttermilk worked perfectly well! the powder itself is kind of... sticky so when i've used it as a powder it tends to create clumps in the dry ingredients. after some deliberate stirring and a few minutes' rest, though, it dissolved nicely in the water. the resulting liquid was quite thin -- definitely nothing like real buttermilk, but it must have done the job, because the cake was plenty fluffy and tender. i might always use it this way in the future, instead of doing the powder and the water separately...
because i made all the stuff thursday night but assembled the cake friday morning, i stuck the frosting in the fridge overnight (so it wouldn't melt? is that a thing???) and while i took it out early to warm back up, it was still a little cool when i was trying to apply it to the cake. my cake game in general is Not That Strong, so while i DID attempt to do a crumb coat first, my white exterior ended up distinctly... speckled. and not that smooth. ah, well.
as for the EYES 👀👀 the 'recipe' says to use junior mints (which are larger) + full-size m&ms but i knew i wanted to avoid anything resembling the orange-juice-after-brushing-your-teeth effect, so i went with full-size + mini m&ms to go with the full-size + mini oreos. the mini oreos, it turns out, are VERY difficult to separate cleanly, both in terms of keeping the creme intact and avoiding crumbs -- but they sure are cute (and they matched the frosting i guess lol) also it turns out i have some m&m opinions: the mini ones have a higher candy coating:chocolate ratio and it is Inferior. also, note for the future: maybe make the eye placement a little more slice-friendly? idk
