A/N: so. hi. @psychadelic-fool dropped a like on the last one in this series (read it HERE) and reminded me i actually wrote a second part. i wasnt gonna post it (i wrote it in june, but since nobody seemed interested i kept it to myself) but i figured at least one person was interested! so here, entry 2 in the "musings of a sunspeaker" series. hope you enjoy!

The stranger was back again today.
The Stranger
A/N: so i've been playing a lot of the "Atum 2: Return to the Sands" mod lately, and i started thinking about what the sunspeakers thought of my player character. it's just a short little thing, but i'm happy with it.
also side note: don't look up "khitther beetle" bc you won't find anything. it's a made up name for the myrmex from the ice and fire mod.

There’s a stranger in Atum. It looks human enough, though paler than those I’ve seen. It’s around the same size and shape as well, at least as far as I can tell underneath the scaled, shimmering armor it wears. Still, there are some things about it that are......strange, to say the least. It flies on black, leathery wings like a dragon in human form, and it doesn’t seem to understand what we say to it. I’ve never seen it eat, though occasionally it pulls out a shimmering scepter and chants some sort of incantation. Does it subsist on magic of some sort?
It seems friendly, or at least not actively hostile, unlike the roving bandits. So long as you don’t attack it first, it seems content to leave you be. Occasionally it comes by the temples with rare, shining artifacts. Everything from brooches to idols, all from a practically never-ending bag it carries between its wings. Even though it doesn’t speak any language we know, it somehow learned that we’re willing to trade coin for these artifacts, and it proceeded to come back to the temple every now and again to trade some more. Sometimes it offers coins, and we trade items in return. It seems content to take most anything, though it definitely prefers the fiery dust and the strange pearls we’ve found.
It doesn’t stick around for long, always flying off to somewhere or another and disappearing for weeks before returning, another load of artifacts spilling out of its bag. I don’t know where it gets them, and I’m honestly afraid to ask, not that it would understand the question. I can only assume it finds them in various ruins or bandit shelters, and I don’t care to inquire further than that.
The first time it came by our temple, it spent some time waving a strange golden device over the bricks and planks. Was it looking for something? Studying something? I’m not sure, and even the elders don’t seem to know. It might be some sort of strange magic from its homeland, because this stranger.....it definitely isn’t from around here. I’m not sure exactly where, but I’ve heard rumors from one of our sister temples that a strange portal appeared one day, made of some kind of yellow stone. It was similar to the limestone here in Atum, but.....more.....vibrant? It was hard for them to describe, and harder still for me to understand without being able to see it myself.
Brother Piai, the one who sent the missive about the portal, swears he saw the stranger exit the portal and immediately turn to slay the bandits who had swarmed it, cutting them down with a long, thin sword that it pulled from between its wings. After the bandits, the stranger turned its sights on the dragon that had nested right by where the portal had appeared, flying over and beginning to fight the beast midair. He said he hadn’t wanted to watch, sure the reckless stranger would be almost instantly immolated, but.....whether by some strange magic of a charm or the stranger’s own innate ability, the fire never seemed to touch it. Even the beast’s powerful jaws couldn’t slow the stranger for long, and soon it had defeated the dragon.
Was it a demon? A dragon taken human form? Some sort of god? Surely it couldn’t be human, not with that sort of power. The dragons and the khitther beetles had killed almost every human sent against them, to the point that even the bandits stayed far away from their nests. And yet, this stranger....it had decimated every foe it came across.
I can only pray the stranger remains friendly, and never turns its ire upon our temple. I fear that if it does, it won’t stop until every last one of us is exterminated.
