TWST X DND - FIRST YEARS
Housewardens | Vice housewardens(+Ruggie) | Bonus
(Some rambles under the cut)
To be down there
twst first-years who are extremely impressionable, and have started to adopt their upperclassmen's little movement quirks.
deuce starts doing this thing where he'll reach his hand up, abruptly stop, and hastily put his hand back down, a bright blush going over his face. he only ever completes the action a total of one time, which ace is there to witness -- and of course, ace bursts out laughing when he realizes that deuce is trying to adjust his glasses like trey does, except deuce obviously doesn't wear glasses.
not to be outdone, deuce and yuu both catch ace saluting with a peace sign after they leave ramshackle. ace freezes mid-pose, which gives them ample time to realize why the gesture is so familiar. and as soon as it clocks, yuu and deuce proceed to mercilessly make fun of him for it for the next week, pulling up pictures of cater on magicam and and asking if they're secret siblings.
jokes on both ace and deuce, though, because before they know it, they're putting their hands to their chests and cocking their heads to the side like riddle does whenever he's feeling smug. and it's not until deuce and yuu have had their fun with ace's peace sign (which he will never do again (which is a lie, he totally will)) that yuu pulls up a bunch of photos, revealing that they've been doing this for months now, and they were just waiting for the right time to bring it up.
jack starts putting both hands behind his head whenever he's thinking just like ruggie does, and it's not until he catches epel looking at him oddly that he even realizes he's doing it. epel practically holds him at pen-point and asks what he's done to the real jack when jack puts his hand to the side of his forehead in a way that looks eerily reminiscent of what leona does when he's stressed.
soon after that, though, epel starts lifting his finger to the side of his face or lifting a whole hand whenever he's trying to make a point. they're such small gestures, but they strike untold fear into the hearts of his dormmates for reasons they can't understand -- until they see vil and rook striking the exact same poses when vil's lecturing epel about how to hold your teacup in the most elegant manner or rook's greeting someone he's stalked for the past two hours.
ortho's already inherited some of idia's attributes, so nobody thinks anything of it most of the time. then, in rare moment of shyness, ortho puts his hand on his arm, and everybody in his class starts flipping out, throwing chairs, and asking the universe why their only ray of sunshine is turning more and more like his gloomy brother with every passing day.
sebek gets a triple-whammy all in one day. while at lunch with the other freshmen, he puts his hand to the side of his face like silver does, puts his hand to his chin like lilia does, and even pouts like malleus does when yuu steals a bit of his macaroni. nobody mentions any of this to him, but yuu secretly takes pictures of it and sends them all to diasomnia.
yuu, of course, doesn't get out of this unscathed. in fact, they might have ended up the worst, because they slowly start to take cues from every upperclassmen/teacher they know.
they start beating their textbooks, rulers, whatever they have against their hand like it's a whip, in much the same way professor crewel does. they shrug with both hands outstretched now, sometimes looking like azul, sometimes looking like ruggie, and even sometimes looking like rook. one day, they catch themselves slumping their shoulders and shaking their head like idia does whenever he's tired.
the freshmen don't catch on very fast. when they do, they all agree that it's embarrassing, but they're too far gone to stop it now.
(the upperclassmen catch on pretty quick. if they're at all happy about it, they hide it well.)
⋆. 𐙚 ˚𝓘magine a healer! Yuu who can heal any injuries but with the cost of their own body. They can heal cuts, broken bones, and even emotional wounds, but it always tranfers to them— pair that up with selflessness and you got yourself a recipe for disaster
NRC did not treat selfless people as kindly as it does to selfish ones. It teaches them that you need to think for yourself, to think about the consequences of being kind, to think about about how the world wouldn't be kind to those who give themselves up for others. That's why people there don't work together, that's why people there are selfish, that's why they're egocentric— but it's not their fault, no, it never is. They just need someone to show them kindness.
That's where you came in. A person from another world— a magic-less person from another world.
A magic-less, kind, person from another world.
Allot of people noticed how gentle you were; how polite you were to Crowley, how you helped Kalim when his robes set on fire on the opening ceremony, how you smiled at strangers when they make eye contact with you. They thought that you wouldn't last a day in here, that you would eventually get yourself in deep trouble for being too generous, for being to helpful in a school filled with selfish people.
But no.
Instead, they saw changes. Overblot after overblot, there were little changes that could all be connected by you.
And every after the Overblots, there were always injured people— it's not severe however, no of course not, instead these were just cuts, bruises, and broken wrists if you were being generous. It all depends in the Overblot of course, but still, the point still stands.
And every time, after the fight, you were always there in the infirmary healing them— Professor Crewel knows about your ability to heal, but he doesn't know the consequences, so he allows you to heal them because he thinks that it's a weird magic blessing you have that you didn't have any side effects when healing people, so he let you stay. You always spoke to them with a smile on your face, and praised them for being brave.
The first years knows your healing powers first hand: Ace and Deuce got healed after Riddle's overblot and immediately praised you for how useful and amazing your ability was. Jack got healed after Leona's overblot and he remarked how your power doesn't belong in a school like this. Epel got healed after Vil's overblot and gushed about how he could actually breath properly now— but stopped when you coughed and excused yourself to the bathroom, he asked about it with confusion, and you smiled weakly in response then brushed it off. Ortho saw your healing abilities and gushed about how you were that one healing mage in a boss battle that the team can't afford to lose. Sebek shouted at how useful you were and praised you with a loud voice.
But they don't know that you took all their injuries and hid it.
But Grim does.
He found out after a particularly hard Overblot fight. You pulled him in a closed off space and healed him— you healed his broken paw. He looked at it, amazed at how his paw healed in such a short time with your magic, he looked up at you with stars in his eyes, and as he was about to say something, he stopped, and looked at your expression.
You were wincing and holding your hand with little pricks of tears on the side of your eyes, he looked at you worriedly and asked what was wrong, and as you were about to cover it up, to smile and hold back your tears as if his broken paw didn't just transfer to your own hand and injure it in the process. He gently put his paw over your injured one.
"... This is 'cause of me isn't it?" He asked quietly.
Silence settled between the two of you, before you sighed and nodded, "it's the consequences of my healing powers" you smiled and lifted up his face with your uninjured hand, "don't worry about it, okay? I'll take care of it"
...
"Ya' know yer' not alone in this, right?"
You smiled.
"I know"
𝗔/𝗻: I might elaborate on this in future works BUT for now I'll just leave it like this and let y'all take a peak at what's about to come heheheh 😋
TWST AU where Yuu seems to have accidentally time traveled back to the start of their first year at NRC, except they quickly switch to thinking they must be in some kind of alternate universe because everyone is being so nice and comparatively well-adjusted? Even Grim! Ace just shows them around the school grounds and Deuce arrives of his own volition to introduce himself, Jack shows up at Ramshackle house like I heard someone was staying here so I brought food, two minutes later Epel arrives with extra bedding from the Pomefiore dorms, Sebek is like hello if you have any troubles I will assist, Ortho gifts them a phone right away like welcome to school I took the liberty of adding me and my brother to your contacts, it's wild.
Anyway, turns out the other freshmen also just time traveled. Everyone has it figured out by the time Ace doesn't trigger Riddle's overblot (it's still impending but Ace is NOT doing the tart thing again), but for the first couple of days it's a comedy of misunderstandings, with each of them thinking they've somehow butterfly effected events into changing right out of the gate.
