AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (2021-)
Do I have something with these three? Yes
Did I draw this to inspire people far more talented than me to produce ATWI8D content? Yes
Am I going to stop? CERTAINLY NOT
Okay Around the World in 80 Days is the corniest thing I've seen in a long time. It does every cliche known to man (up to and including the "Oh I can almost hear the voice of the man who is dead!" but he's actually not and is calling from nearby) but that last episode...
Fogg's conversation with Estella was heartbreaking. The fact he left her and ran away back home is one (awful) thing, but the fact that 20 years have gone by since then and the characters are marked by the loss of that time between them that they can't get back is...
For a moment I felt like I was watching a different series. It was gut-wrenching.
The worst part is that in a series that created so many plotholes and used so many old storytelling devices the aftermath of their relationship is played completely realistically.
Estella found another life, and made it work with a husband and kids she genuinely loved.
Fogg rotted away in his club.
There's no resentment or pain or fury, just a quiet melancholy acceptance from Estella. Fogg is on the verge of breaking in half as she describes in detail the life she led with someone who wasn't him.
Both of them care for each other still (Fogg outrightly tells her that he loves her), but Estella makes it clear that they won't get back together--and to its credit the series doesn't force a romantic ending for the two of them.
They just part, and the series is left with scenes like Fogg staring heartbrokenly at Passportout and Fix dancing in the ballroom, knowing that he and Estella had that once too.

It's not at all to put pressure on you. I just want our dear English friends to be frustrated to arrive on the AO3 page of this series and say to themselves "what is this, why is there so much fanfiction in French? Let's bury them!" and writes a lot. So I could read some. This is the plan.
I tag @kajaono and @thinking-with-quadrants btw
I cried. I honestly cried at the ending. Because my 10 year old fan heart couldn’t not handle what they just teased. I am... yeah, crying again. This means so much to me

"What do you mean, no one has seen Around th world in 80 days? Too bad, I'm writing about it anyway"
Signed, a Belgian who has been following the series for a month and who has seen the last two episodes this evening.
