Climbing out a window, across a roof, and down the trellis was not as easy as all those books about adventure and rogues made it sound. If the prince didn’t have a few years of experience doing such a thing, this certainly would have ended in a broken bone or two.
The prince (Prince Logan Arenz, if formalities were required) padded across the kitchen rooftop in soft-soled boots. Waiting until the watchman below passed by, they clambered down the ivy-covered wall. “Yes!”
Finally, free to relax. It was so hard to just breathe inside the castle walls, especially lately. So much talk of the neighboring countries and peace treaties and the possibility of being married off (the prince shuddered). It was stifling, and right now they just really wanted an escape from it.
Better get to the gardens quick. The prince flipped up their hood and turned around, nearly smacking into someone. His face wasn’t familiar, but the prince knew he was one of the knights.
“...dammit,” they muttered under their breath. “Um...I’m just...searching for, um-” An excuse. “-...A lost dog.”
