Sooo how about a scenario of Tanjiro meeting his future wife at a temple after the demon slayer series ends? They end up talking to each other for first time when reader notices him struggling with the smoke sticks and praying with his hands because of his arm that doesn’t work well anymore. And so after a while reader helps him out with the smokes sticks?
You were praying quietly by the altar when the door to the shrine creaked open, and you heard someone enter and approach you.
"Excuse me? I hope I'm not intruding, but I came to light an incense for my companions?" Came a young man's voice, and you opened your eyes and glanced at them over your shoulder.
"Not at all," You smiled, "Please join me."
"Thank you!" The young man smiled as he joined you. You observed him, and then it hit you.
This young man was certainly something. It took you no time to realize that this was Tanjiro Kamado. THE Tanjiro Kamado who fought against the Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji and came out victorious.
He might have won the war, but there were some sacrifices, such as his right eye and arm.
You weren't a Slayer like he was, but a humble shrine maiden who helped to take care of the wounded and pray for their souls to pass into Heaven or their next life safely. Now that the war against Demons was over, you dedicated your life to the prayers and to helping other people.
You closed your eyes once again and started praying… Or you would have, but the frustrated sounds Kamado was making caught your attention, and you soon realized that he had some trouble lighting the incense with his weak arm.
"Can I help you?" You asked after listening to him struggle for a couple of minutes, and Tanjiro smiled at you so happily, "Oh, thank you, if you just could?"
"It's no trouble," You said as you lit his incense and helped him put it on the altar.
"Thank you," The young man thanked you, and you nodded, "It's my pleasure to help."
The two of you smiled and pressed your palms together in prayer. The silence between you was comfortable as the air was filled with the scent of the incense. After a moment, you opened your eyes and looked at the young man.
"You must be Tanjiro Kamado, am I right?" You asked, and he quickly turned to look at you and nodded, "Ah, yes, that would be me!"
"I've heard about you." You hummed with a small smile, "The boy who saved us all."
"T- That isn't true, th- there were others as well and-!" He panicked slightly, and you giggled, "I understand. What brings you here?"
"Oh," He looked at the incense you lit and then at you, "I'm just here to pray for those who fought as hard as we all did but didn't make it."
"An admirable thing to do." You nodded in respect, "Pardon me if I'm being bold, but could I perhaps prepare you some tea and treats?"
"Ah, I don't want to intrude!" Tanjiro quickly said, but you just hummed as you got up and started to head to the private part of the shrine dedicated to shrine maidens.
"Nonsense." You said as you smiled at him over your shoulder, "I insist on offering you some tea while hearing about your heroic tales."
You bet that this young man had tons of stories, and you were interested in hearing them all... Even if you would have to continue on another day or week.
Pairing:Tanjiro x Black Reader

The air at the Butterfly Mansion always smelled of medicinal herbs, sharp alcohol, and the lingering scent of wisteria. For Tanjiro, however, the most prominent scent in the courtyard was yours. To him, you smelled like warm cocoa and sun-drenched earth, with a subtle, spicy undertone of cinnamon that seemed to bloom whenever you laughed. It was a scent that grounded him, a fragrant anchor in a world filled with the metallic tang of blood and the sulfurous stench of demons.
You had been training alongside him for months, a fellow slayer whose strength was matched only by your kindness. Your friendship had grown in the quiet spaces between grueling recovery sessions and the shared silence of midnight patrols. You were the one who could tell when his smile didn't quite reach his eyes, and he was the one who knew exactly how you liked your tea when you were too exhausted to speak.
For a long time, Tanjiro believed this was simply the bond of comrades. He cherished you, of course, but he had attributed the fluttering in his chest to the adrenaline of battle or the simple joy of finding a kindred spirit. But as the seasons shifted, the nature of his affection began to evolve. It happened in small, infinitesimal increments.
It was the way the golden hour light caught the rich, mahogany depth of your skin, making you look as though you were carved from the finest obsidian and gold. It was the way your curls, tight and beautiful, would occasionally catch a stray petal from the cherry blossom trees, and the instinctive, burning urge he felt to reach out and brush it away. It was the way you looked at him—not as the "chosen one" or the boy with the forehead scar, but simply as Tanjiro.
The realization hit him with the force of a Total Concentration strike during a joint mission in a secluded mountain village. You had been fighting a nimble, spindly demon, your movements a blur of grace and power. As the demon lunged, you pivoted, your blade whistling through the air, but a stray piece of debris caught your ankle, sending you stumbling.
Tanjiro didn't think; he simply moved. He was there in a heartbeat, his shoulder slamming into yours to push you clear of the attack, his own blade severing the demon's neck in one fluid motion. As the creature disintegrated into ash, Tanjiro didn't immediately stand up. He stayed hovered over you, his breath coming in ragged gasps, his heart hammering against his ribs.
He looked down at you, your chest heaving, your dark eyes wide and shimmering with concern for him. In that moment, the scent of cinnamon and cocoa intensified, swirling around him like a physical embrace. The protective instinct he felt wasn't just the duty of a slayer; it was a visceral, aching need to keep you safe, to hold you, and to never let the world bruise you.
"Tanjiro?" you whispered, your voice a soft melody that made his skin prickle. "Are you hurt?"
He couldn't speak. He just stared, mesmerized by the smudge of dirt on your cheek and the intensity of your gaze. He realized then that he was utterly, hopelessly in love with you.
The return to the mansion was a blur of quiet tension. Tanjiro became acutely aware of everything: the brush of your shoulder against his, the sound of your breathing, the way you tilted your head when you were thinking. He tried to maintain his usual composure, but his sense of smell betrayed him. Whenever you were near, his scent shifted—becoming sweet and heady, a clear signal of his longing that he hoped you couldn't read.
One evening, several weeks later, the moon hung low and heavy in the sky, casting a silver sheen over the gardens. You were sitting on the engawa, staring out at the koi pond, the silence of the night wrapping around you. Tanjiro approached slowly, his footsteps light on the wooden planks.
"You're thinking again," he said softly, sitting beside you.
You smiled, a small, tired thing. "Just thinking about how quiet it is. It feels... fragile."
Tanjiro looked at you, and the words he had been practicing in his head for days suddenly felt insufficient. He didn't want to be fragile; he wanted to be honest. He reached out, his hand trembling slightly, and covered yours. Your skin was warm, a perfect contrast to the cool night air.
"I have something I need to tell you," he began, his voice thick with emotion. He turned to face you fully, his crimson eyes searching yours. "I've spent a long time trying to understand why my heart beats faster when you enter a room. I thought it was just friendship, but it's more. It's so much more."
You froze, your breath hitching.
"I love you," Tanjiro confessed, the words rushing out of him like a dam breaking. "I love your strength, and your laugh, and the way you make the world feel quiet when everything else is screaming. I love everything about you. And I don't think I can go back to just being your friend."
The silence that followed felt like an eternity. Then, slowly, you turned your hand over, interlacing your fingers with his. A radiant smile broke across your face, and for the first time, Tanjiro smelled a scent of pure, unadulterated happiness radiating from you.
"I thought you'd never say it, you idiot," you whispered.
Tanjiro let out a choked laugh, a mixture of relief and joy. He leaned in, hesitant at first, giving you every chance to pull away. But you didn't. You met him halfway, your lips meeting in a kiss that tasted of longing and long-overdue promises. It started softly, a tentative exploration, but quickly deepened as the months of suppressed desire surged to the surface.
He pulled you closer, his arm sliding around your waist to draw your body flush against his. The heat radiating between you was electric. Tanjiro groaned softly into the kiss, his hand moving up to cup your jaw, his thumb stroking the soft curve of your cheek. He felt your fingers tangle in his hair, pulling him closer, as if you were trying to merge your very souls.
The kiss broke, both of you breathless, foreheads resting against each other. The air between you was thick with a new kind of tension—one that wasn't about fear or duty, but about a hunger that had been simmering beneath the surface of your friendship.
"Is this okay?" Tanjiro whispered, his voice low and husky, his eyes dark with a maturity that replaced his usual innocence.
"Yes," you breathed, your voice trembling. "More than okay."
He led you back into the privacy of the room, the sliding door clicking shut behind you. In the dim light of the lantern, Tanjiro looked at you with a reverence that felt almost sacred. He began to undress you with agonizing slowness, his eyes never leaving yours, treating every inch of your skin like a masterpiece. He marveled at the contrast of his paler hands against the rich, deep tones of your body, his touch light and worshipful.
When he finally pressed you down into the futon, the world outside the room ceased to exist. There were no demons, no wars, no breathing styles—only the sound of your joined breaths and the rhythmic beating of two hearts in sync.
Tanjiro was gentle, his movements guided by a deep-seated need to cherish you. He explored every curve of your body with his lips and tongue, discovering the places that made you gasp and the spots that made you arch against him. His scent was now an intoxicating blend of passion and devotion, enveloping you in a cocoon of safety.
As he moved inside you, a low, guttural sound escaped his throat—a sound of complete surrender. He looked deep into your eyes, wanting you to see everything he felt. In the heat of the moment, the intimacy was more than physical; it was a spiritual anchoring. He wasn't just loving your body; he was loving the essence of who you were.
You clung to him, your nails digging into his shoulders, your voices mingling in soft cries of pleasure and affection. Every thrust was a silent vow, every moan a confession. In the sanctuary of the room, you found a peace that the battlefield had always denied you.
Later, as the moon began to set and the first hints of dawn touched the horizon, Tanjiro held you close, your head resting on his chest. He kissed the top of your curls, the scent of cocoa and cinnamon now mixed with the musk of their intimacy.
"I'm never letting you go," he murmured, his voice sleepy but firm.
You smiled, closing your eyes and listening to the steady, strong beat of his heart. "You better not."
In the quiet of the morning, Tanjiro realized that while he fought to protect the world, you were the world he wanted to come home to.
Betwixt Love and Duty - Snippet
No context, just a story idea I've had for a long time now. Formatting will come later. Some lines may be changed further down the line but i like where this is going so far.
P.S. my laptop has lost the war and has been put to rest. With it, i have lost many folders/projects as well as dividers so this snippet is gonna look bland and boring but i haven't figured out how to use this computer yet and i'm trying to figure out what the new design for this blog should be so bear with me as i wrestle with technology far too advanced for my puny brain

you and tanjiro did not get along in the slightest.
you both have known each other since he joined the corps and since then he feels like you’re constantly on his back. most would expect you to be just as kind as the love hashira, but you are the complete opposite.
despite him constantly (attempting) to be kind to you, you’ve always been stubborn about accepting him as a demon slayer. you boss him around, and use your higher ranking as a reason to do so.
he tries to see the good in you of course—you can be kind—but he had trouble,
until now.
he’s noticed a change in you…a great one. usually it was like you were always against him, but things have changed.
you have started to defend him. anytime shinazugawa spouted things at him, calling him a traitor and his sister a liability, you have been there to call him out.
“they are here for a reason. if nezuko was truly dangerous, he’d be dead along with her.”
obviously you said it in your own unique way, but still defensive.
you’ve even gone as far as to take hits for him. in the most recent mission he had with you, he let his guard down just for a second.
the demon nearly caught him, just for him to turn around and see you bleeding from the impact.
thoughts of you berating him about acting weak race through his mind whenever he doubts himself...you make his heart pound harder than any other.
the way you act towards him, towards his sister and his situation…
perhaps…there’s something there that wasn’t there before.
a/n: auugghh this doesn't feel long enough...i hope this is enjoyable for my little chudlings
