Au!XR origin

Well before Lightyear took over, Star Command began a project to build the first ever robot Ranger, XL. In the “prime” universe we follow in the series, XL had faulty programming and began to go on a tirade. In this universe, they couldn’t get XL to turn on. The LGMs eventually scrapped the XL project and waited for the advancement in robotic technology to try again with another model.

Shortly after Lightyear began to take over the Galactic Alliance, the number of active space rangers began to deplete. Some were captured and imprisoned, some were…eliminated. The universe’s Star Command was lacking what the prime universe had…a good Buzz Lightyear. Surprisingly, Commander Nebula was the one to go to the LGMs and have them start up another robot ranger project. The original model looked almost identical to the XR in the prime universe. Commander Nebula quickly shot down the idea of the original design and told the LGMs to go with a much larger version. One that could hold his own to Lightyear and hopefully take him down.

There was no “watch and learn” programming for this XR as the LGMs were not worried about him ever rebelling against them. He already had his own, “mellowed” personality when he first went online.

One of the first rangers he came across was Mira. This universe’s Mira was unstable, impulsive, and still mourning over the death of her father as well as the destruction of her homeworld. At first, she shut him out, but eventually opened up to him. They became very close and shared the goal to take down Lightyear together.
