Every Aura Wielder can manipulate one or two kinds of type energies, depending on the typing of their spirit/bonded Pokemon. The type energies they can manipulate are referred to as “type affinities” or simply “affinities”.
Affinities, in turn, can be separated as “primary affinity” and “secondary affinity”. Despite the terminology’s implications, primary and secondary affinities have no overall effect on the Aura Wielder aside from indicating the order of which type energies the individual could manipulate. Primary affinities are the first type to manifest once the Aura Wielder has awakened their potential, followed by their secondary affinity (if they have one).
By this logic, if an Aura Wielder first gains the ability to manipulate ice energy after awakening their potential, then developed the ability to manipulate water energy some time later... this wielder’s affinities would be Ice/Water. Ice being their primary affinity, and Water their secondary affinity.
For most Aura Wielders, they can only have two affinities at most naturally. In the nigh-improbable case that an Aura Wielder gains a tertiary Ghost affinity, for them to access this power, they must swap out one of their pre-existing affinities to “make room” for the Ghost affinity. Chances are, it is the primary affinity that will be swapped out in favour of the tertiary affinity while the secondary affinity is paired with it to form a new combination. The wielder can freely cycle between their primary and tertiary affinities at will.
In addition, type affinities also grant the wielder special attributes as well as weaknesses related to the element it concerns. For instance, the fire affinity renders the Aura Wielder immune or supernaturally resistant to fire/extreme heat, but makes them vulnerable to water energy and may even develop a mild case of thalassophobia (fear of large bodies of water).
Another example would be a wielder with the electric affinity. They can harmlessly absorb electricity as long as it doesn’t go beyond their threshold, which can be stored for future usage. However, they must take care not to absorb too much at once and/or too quickly, or else they would severely injure themselves. Such wielders may even develop an odd fascination with thunderstorms.
Even then, these are only a general statement on the effects of the wielder’s type affinities. What is true to one wielder, may not apply to another even if they have the same type affinities. The experience varies greatly from individual to individual, so it is always best to ask them directly about the subject rather than try and hazard a guess.
Alright, so here comes a while lot of information concerning a time traveler AU I want to try out! I'm so sorry for the amount of asks you're about to get, please forgive me :'( ⌚
RULES OF TIME TRAVEL (I’m sorry if this doesn’t make much sense, time travel is a mess) 1. Time Travel is possible through the use of a certain key; all time travellers have to own one of these keys to get anywhere. 2. Once someone takes ownership of a key, they’re inexplicably linked to it (spiritually, mentally, you decide) 3. The key is usually given to a time traveler, or it is found with a set of instructions. - ⌚
4. So the key works in conjunction with the owner’s mind; so they put the key in a lock, and when they turn it, they have to think very specifically of the time and place that they want to go 5. Travel is only possible backwards; nobody knows why, but a lot of people speculate that it’s because the future is difficult to visualize properly. So if someone thinks of “the future”, they’re just taken to the present day 6. The “present day” is 2017 - ⌚
UNIVERSE RULES/WORLDBUILDING 1. Time travellers as a community is very fractured; there’s no official way to track who is time travelling and where 2. “Astro” is a team of time travellers made up of MJ, Jinwoo and Sanha 3. There are some organizations of time travellers that have banded together, but these are elusive and hard to find (usually, people only find them by luck) 4. However, there is one organization who seek to hunt down time travellers who have “interfered” too much - ⌚
5. “interfering” means anything between making someone without a key aware of time travel to altering historical events 6. There seems to be some sort of strike system and some leniency, but once you’ve interfered too much, you’re done for 7. Nobody knows if this organization is made up of humans or something else, because most people who’ve come into contact with them either die, or go mad - ⌚
8. Because of this organization, most time travellers stay in their lane, and manage to interfere as little as possible 9. Because of how time travel interferes with the world around it, strange creatures have popped up all throughout time 10. They seek out time travellers 11. These creatures can be either benevolent or malign 12. Some choose to blend in with human society, other’s don’t - ⌚
Okay, so onto the characters! (also i realised I should just come off anon since that’d make communication easier) - ⌚
MOON BIN 21 || Travels with Cha Eunwoo || Being hunted by the organization || From 2010 - Moon Bin is on the run. His passion has gotten him into trouble one too many times. Moon Bin has a trouble letting bad things just happen. He always feels the need to get involved and help people. And, as noble as that is, it’s also screwed a few things up. Due to Eunwoo, Bin has been able to escape the organization for a while now. However, it seems like it’s catching up on the two of them. - ⌚
Moon Bin grew up down the street from Eunwoo. The two of them have been best friends for years, growing up together. When they discovered the keys, Bin was incredibly excited. What he hadn’t accounted for was having to deal with the injustices of the past. Hence, he got a little too involved. - ⌚
CHA EUNWOO 21 || Travels with Moon Bin || Not being hunted, by implicated as Bin’s partner || From 2010 Cha Eunwoo is the main reason that he and Moon Bin have managed to escape death for so long. Intelligent, thoughtful and prepared, and he’s always one step ahead. While he too is upset at the injustices that he and Bin have seen, Eunwoo has always tried to interfere in more subtle ways, for better or for worse. He holds great respect for Moon Bin, and he would do anything for his best friend.
Cha Eunwoo is the main reason that he and Moon Bin have managed to escape death for so long.
He grew up down the street from Moon Bin, and the two of them have been best friends most of their lives. They discovered their keys together, and haven’t turned back since. Eunwoo feels guilt sometimes at leaving everything behind, but at this point, they’re too far gone.
KIM MYUNGJUN 26 || A member of Astro || Leader || From 1972
Known as “MJ” to his good friends, Myungjun is a seasoned time traveler. He’s been travelling since he was 17 years old, and he’s learnt the best way to keep things under control and to keep interfering to a minimum. At this point, he knows how to have the most fun in any time period, and if you want to know the best places to be, he can tell you.
He was given his key by some stranger. He’d found it a bit unbelievable, but he’d tried it out, and he’s so glad that he did. He managed to run into the rest of Astro on the way; the three boys just took too large a liking to him to never see him again. Therefore, their little ‘band’ formed, and it’s rare to see one without the rest of them.
PARK JINWOO 22 || A member of Astro || From 1935
The leader of Astro. Cool, calm, collected, and with a good brain to boot. He’s helped Astro stay out of trouble for a long time now, and they all deeply respect him. He feels responsible for all of them, and he’s always doing his best to make sure that they’re safe.
Jinwoo’s reasons for travelling are both because he wanted to experience a different side of life, and because he didn’t enjoy his time period at all. He didn’t feel comfortable in the 1930’s, and once he saw that things got better in the future, his faith in humanity tripled. He’s enjoyed travelling ever since.
PARK MINHYUK 20 || Lone traveller || Renegade || From 1964
Park Minhyuk is on the brink of being hunted down. Despite the pleas from his teammates to stay out of trouble, it seems to inexplicably find him. His tendency to not take life too seriously frightens Jinwoo a bit, but Minhyuk is certain that they’re all going to be fine. What he hasn’t told his teammates is that he’s terrified.
The main reason he started travelling was for an adventure. He found his key just lying around with its instructions, and he decided to give it a try. He hasn’t stopped travelling since. When he met Astro, he was very grateful; he trusts the boys with his life, and he’d do anything for them (for better or for worse). Minhyuk doesn’t think about his past in great detail; he prefers to live in the moment, enjoying himself as much as he can.
YOON SANHA 19 || A member of Astro || From 1992
Sanha is the youngest in Astro. Because of that, they’re all incredibly protective of him. While he’s the most naive among them, he has a good heart, and just wants to do his best to make oother’s happy (although they won’t say it, this worries MJ aand Jinwoo some what)
Sanha started travelling when he was 17 years old. His key was given to him by his grandmother, who told him that he should go on and have some fun. So, Sanha obliged, and set of for four months of solo travelling. It was by luck that he met Jinwoo and MJ. Ever since he met them, they’ve been inseparable.
YOON NARI (basically the Y/N; name might change? Idk I’m so bad at naming things ah) 20 || Travels alone || From 2017
Has only been travelling for a few months. Found her key by accident while she was at an antique shop with her family. While she tried to resist the urge to travel at first, she keeps getting drawn back to it. She can’t shake the feeling that something sinister is happening, and she wants to find out what it is. Particularly, she’s noticed a rise in the number of the peculiar creatures that are the result of time travelling.
Feels inexplicably linked to Cha Eunwoo and Moon Bin. Often runs into them, which is rare for time travelers. Unless they plan to, it’s unlikely that two time travelers will cross paths again. Has a feeling that those boys have something to do with the things she’s researching.
Thank you so much, and sorry again! If you need any clarification, or you’d like me to expand more, please let me know! Thank you for doing this! - ⌚
thank you so much for sending all this in, lovely~! ^o^ ((it looks AWESOME I srsly can’t wait to see what happens~ >u< <33))
your AU!RP will be answered soon, and if you have any questions for us or vice-versa, feel free to get in contact with us~! <333

Ancients
Descendants of the Blessed warriors of the War. Their powers originate from their spirit Pokemon, a spiritual entity that serves as a representation their true self. Should they undergo Degeneration or are transformed, they take on aspects or the form of their spirit Pokemon.
Known members:
Artemis (pre-Calamity) - Electric/Fire
One of the last surviving members of the Viator Clan (formerly Viotto), and the current host of the Paradigm Crest. Due to her otherworldly origin, she possesses foreknowledge of the tumultuous events that will soon transpire in Aevium although she is uncertain on her stance regarding the matter. Her spirit Pokemon is Argentrine Virtuous Mode.
Hauyne - Electric/Fire
The ‘light’ aspect of Artemis’s splintered soul, and the representation of her idealised self. She retains Artemis’s memories of her life in the real world as well as her metaknowledge, but is unaware of her status as a split personality or of her original self’s life in a pre-Calamity Aevium. She seeks to exploit her knowledge to create the ideal future for her would-be allies. Her spirit Pokemon is Argentrine Virtuous Mode.
Viviere - Ghost/Fire
The ‘dark’ aspect of Artemis’s splintered soul, and the personification of her negativity as well as the ‘shameful’ parts of herself. She keeps the memories of her original self’s time in Aevium ten years prior to the Calamity up to her fateful demise, but lacks the memories of her life before Artemis’s descent onto this world. As she is not resurrected by Crescent, Viviere can only appear in the World of Nightmares. Her ultimate goal is to rejoin with her other half, so that her original self could be restored. Her spirit Pokemon is Argentrine Fell Mode.
Artemis (post-v13) - Electric/Fire or Ghost/Fire
Reborn anew through the reunification of her two aspects, Artemis now possesses the tertiary Ghost affinity and is able to alternate between them via envisioning her spirit Pokemon shifting between its forms. While she has both Hauyne and Viviere’s memories, she seems to identify more closely with Hauyne’s identity and therefore uses her name as an alias. Her spirit Pokemon are both forms of Argentrine.
Orion - Ice/Dragon
One of the last two surviving members of the Viator Clan (formerly Viotto), Artemis’s long-lost older brother and the current Champion of Reborn. Because of their reputation as a formidable battler (even for a Champion-class trainer) and their status as the region’s celebrated hero, they were given the epithet ‘Black Dragon of Reborn’. Their spirit Pokemon is Astarealis, better known as the Original Dragon of Unova.
Moderns
The current generation of Aura Wielders, created by a resurfaced Nymiera as part of Aevium’s latest line of defense against threats like Vitus. Unlike their Ancient counterparts, Moderns draw upon their powers from their bonded Pokemon or “familiars”. Should they Degenerate or transform, they will take on aspects or even the form of their bonded Pokemon.
Known Members:
Anju/Angie - Ice
One of the Protectors of Aevium, who fell in battle against Vitus and was subsequently corrupted by his presence. Her familiar is Regice.
Vivian - Rock
Another member of the Protectors of Aevium. She sacrificed herself in a ritual for the sake of the world, dooming her soul to an endless cycle of reincarnation. She is later succeeded by her final incarnation, Aelita, who also inherits her abilities as an Aura Wielder. Her familiar is Regirock.
Aelita - Rock
Vivian’s final incarnation and her successor. One of Artemis’s closest friends through Hauyne, having stood by her side since the beginning, and her fellow co-leader of their group. Her familiar is Regirock, though she has yet to draw upon this power.
Hazuki - Steel
The final member of the Protectors of Aevium sans Nymiera. She was the only one to survive the battle against Vitus, if only because of her husband’s trickery. Upon discovering this deceit, she descended into a state of righteous insanity and turned her back against everything that she once stood for. It was only after her defeat by former student Artemis’s hands did she come to her senses, and sought atonement through ritual execution by her student’s blade. Her familiar is Registeel.
Saki - Steel
Hazuki’s granddaughter and the heritor of her Aura Wielder abilities along with her role as a Protector of Aevium. She’s the fourth highest-ranking Gym Leader of the Aevium League, specialising in Steel-type Pokemon, and a good friend of Artemis through Hauyne. Currently in a comatose state as her consciousness is gradually transferred back into her original body. Her familiar is Registeel.
Potential Aura Wielders
Those who have the potential to become Aura Wielders due to their close blood relations with pre-existing ones, but have yet to unlock their powers for various reasons. Known members include:
Ayame (Saki’s mother and Hazuki’s daughter)
Kreiss (Anju’s son)
Taelia (Vivian’s reincarnation; deceased)
Nora (Taelia’s daughter; deceased)
Descendants
Individuals with at least one Aura Wielder ancestor somewhere in their lineage. While they lack the potential, they do have a derivative of their ancestor(s)’s mystical gifts that is passed down through the bloodline. Its known members are:

Back in the Age of the Seven Kingdoms, Aura Wielders could be categorised based on the clan they belonged to. In its prime, the total number of Aura Wielder clans numbered up to roughly 50, the majority of these being either branches of pre-existing clans or newly established ones.
Members of a clan are often descended from the clan’s founder, one way or another. For this reason, clan members can typically be distinguished by their similar physical characteristics as well as them utilising their clan’s signature brand of Aura Wielding techniques. It isn’t uncommon for members of a particular clan to resemble their brethren so strongly that outsiders found it difficult to differentiate between individual members.
However, none held as much prestige as the three Noble Clans: clans that could trace its history and lineage all the way back to the War of the Ancients.
The first of the Noble Clans is the Tanis Clan, better known by their epithet “the clan of dragons and serpents”. Members of the Tanis Clan are renowned for their draconic/serpentine spirit Pokemon, hence their epithet, and their indomitable fighting spirit which frequently lends to a highly competitive personality. The Tanis Clan is also one of the largest Aura Wielder clans. They can be distinguished by their raven blue hair and golden-amber irises.
Next, is the Eolande Clan - otherwise known as “the clan of fae and mystique”. Their epithet is derived from its tendency for clan members to have fairy-types as their spirit Pokemon, along with their notorious habit of constructing their settlements so far out in the wilderness that it makes it nigh impossible for humans to find them. They are also infamous for their love for mischief and secretive natures. Members of this elusive, finicky clan can be recognised by their tanned complexions, forest-green locks and lilac eyes.
The last of the Noble Clans is the Viotto Clan, also known by their epithet “the clan of myths and legends”. While this clan is among the smallest due to their low birth rates, they are one of - if not the - most powerful Aura Wielder clans in existence. Much like their fellow Noble Clans, their epithet originates from its members’ propensity towards having legendary/mythical Pokemon as their spirit Pokemon. Descended from the Blessed warrior entrusted with the task of guarding Amethyst Grotto, members of this clan are said to be regal, stout-hearted and possessing a noble sense of justice. Members can be identified by their snow-white hair and startling blue eyes.
Ordinarily, the Noble Clans would hold no power over the other clans due to their nomadic way of life. It is only during crises like in the Great War that a hierarchy is established between the clans for co-ordination purposes, with the three Noble Clans as the leaders.
In the wake of the Great War, however, most of the Aura Wielder clans have gone extinct. The only surviving clan is the Viotto Clan, which had went by a different name - Viator, a double entendre noun that could either mean “traveller” or “deserter” in their native tongue - after their mass exodus into the alternate reality. The clan is survived by two descendants of the bloodline: Orion and Artemis.

While the term “Aura Wielder” would have you believe that the mystical ability is exclusive to them, it is a misconception. Everyone residing in the world created by Arceus has the potential for it, and could pick up the art given sufficient time as well as proper guidance.
Even Pokemon subconsciously rely on this potential, drawing upon their aura to fuel their Moves and using it as a basis for their language*.
So, what is aura? By definition, it is the life force of every living being on the planet. The energy that is continuously generated by the soul, no matter the stage of life it is at. On its own, it is elementally neutral; it does not align with any of the eighteen known types and is therefore “typeless”.
If such is the case, how did Pokemon Moves acquire their elemental alignments? The answer is simple. Every Pokemon is born with a unique organ, so to speak, that allows them imbue their channelled aura with one (sometimes two or more) of the eighteen types, granting them properties of their respective type(s). By doing so, they had converted their aura into what is known as “type energy” - the basis of every Pokemon Move. This is done completely on an instinctual basis for Pokemon, and it is why we generally see them manipulating the elements freely even though they may be utterly inexperienced in battle.
Humans, however, had no such privilege. They lack this instinct that all Pokemon possess, and require rigorous training in order to tap into their aura reserves on the same level as an infant Pokemon. Furthermore, as they lack the organ that enables them to alter the elemental alignment of their channelled aura, most humans are incapable of utilising moves the same way Pokemon could.
Then, how did Aura Wielders manage this? They, too, are humans, despite the noticeable differences in their physiology. So what is it that allowed them to manipulate type energy the way Pokemon could?
For the Aura Wielders, each and every one of them are born with a “spirit Pokemon” inside them - what it is, only the individual knows, but it is always one that best matches their personalities. This spirit Pokemon can be of any species, even extinct species or species that only existed in the distant future. Regardless of the species, it is the typing of their spirit Pokemon that determines the type energy they can manipulate. This is predetermined upon birth, and it will remain the same for the entirety of their lives.
Because of this unique trait, Aura Wielders could only manipulate two kinds of type energies at most, unlike most Pokemon who can typically manipulate type energies aside from their own typing. There are exceptions to this rule, but those are exceedingly rare and almost unheard of.
Speaking of the exception, there is a myth amongst Aura Wielders that those who “defy death”, would gain a secondary/tertiary Ghost typing. No one knows if it were true, because thus far none had managed to return from the dead. It is, however, interesting to note that the Ghost-typing is not a type that can be acquired naturally by Aura Wielders.
Nowadays, Aura Wielders no longer have a spirit Pokemon; the ones that still operate on that mechanic are Artemis/Hauyne and Orion, being direct descendants of the original Blessed warriors. All modern Aura Wielders can all trace their history back to the Protectors of Aevium, warriors who were bestowed a Blessing similar to the one she gave to the ancestors of the original Aura Wielders.
For modern Aura Wielders, their elemental alignment is instead determined by the primary typing of the Pokemon they had bonded with. Examples of this are Vivian (subsequently Taelia and Aelita) with her Regirock, Anju/Angie with her Regice, and Hazuki (subsequently Saki) with her Registeel.
*Pokémon communicate using two media: vocalisation, which conveys the speaker's emotions, and Aura, which conveys the speaker's intentions. In order to fully grasp what the Pokémon is saying, the individual must also be able to detect the faint fluctuations in their Aura.
For this post, I’ll be covering the background lore of my AU i.e. its history and where/how it began to diverge from canon to form this alternate timeline. Before I begin, I’ll tag @fangaminghell, @lemonade-juley, @alltheoutsinfreeeee and @lurker-extraordinaire-657645 as promised.
It’s going to be quite a long read, so I hoped you had made yourself comfortable before diving into this :)
Without further ado, let’s begin.
It all started with the rising tension between the two immortals - Nymiera and Vitus. A conflict that ultimately culminated into an eons-long war which still rages on in the present day.
No one knows exactly why they, two halves of a whole and divine sovereigns ruling in proxy of their creator, had begun to fight. It is, however, commonly believed that Vitus had grown weary of ruling alongside his counterpart and wanted all that power to himself. Or, perhaps, he was disgusted with the laws the Original One had decreed and wished to remake the world in the image of his ideals.
Whatever Vitus’s motivations were, it led to him amassing a vast army (unbeknownst to the entire world) and before long, he declared war on Nymiera for absolute sovereignty. Thus began the War of the Ancients.
With their divine sovereigns in conflict, man and Pokemon alike were forced to choose a side. The majority of mankind supported Vitus’s cause, under the belief that his victory would ensure a future where their children need not live in fear as they did via the total annihilation of Pokemon.
Only a handful of humans stood by Nymiera, bravely and wholeheartedly defending her cause alongside the entire Pokemon race. These were the people who held fast to their faith that the two kinds could coexist harmoniously, despite their obvious differences. Out of gratitude for their unwavering loyalty, Nymiera bestowed them with a Blessing - one that allowed them to fight as if they were Pokemon themselves while retaining their humanity.
Thanks to this Blessing, Nymiera’s army gradually began to overpower their foes. Victory seemed close at hand for them... until Vitus revealed just how desperate he was to win this war.
In a frightening display of divine might, he ripped a massive rift within the space-time fabric and heralded a Calamity From The Beyond, all for the sake of striking a decisive blow against Nymiera. While it had severely crippled much of his enemy’s forces (including their best warrior, hypothesized to be the first Interceptor), many of his soldiers perished in the onslaught as well... the Calamity’s destructive reach was so immense that the entire world had been brought to the brink of oblivion.
And, as if to seal the world’s fate, a devastating cascade of meteors fell upon the ruined world. That would have spelled the end of everything, had the Original One not awoken from His slumber to intervene. Summoning every iota of divine power He could manage, He shielded the world from the brunt of the meteors and mended the rifts in space-time.
Even then, this act of intervention had greatly drained the Original One, who was still weakened from His abrupt awakening. In His exhaustion, a stray meteor missed His gaze and struck Him, splitting Him into three fragmentary entities.
One of the three fragments fell to the earth as a flickering, dying and yet no less powerful spirit, before Nymiera and one of her Blessed warriors. And, granting the spirit Adrest’s request, they laid them to rest in Amethyst Grotto... except, they had unexpectedly began to fade away en route, too wounded by the meteor strike to complete the journey.
In desperation, they had Adrest sealed into a crystal to preserve their life, creating the artifact known as the Paradigm Crest. The Paradigm Crest was then put to rest within the sanctuary of Amethyst Grotto, where it would hopefully remain until the end of time.
With his plans foiled, Vitus disappeared off the face of the earth, leaving his supporters to pick themselves up from the aftermath. Nymiera soon retreated from the mortal world as well, presumably in search for her missing counterpart, but not before giving out her final instructions to her surviving Blessed.
To the one who witnessed and assisted in the creation of the Paradigm Crest, she entrusted the guardianship of the Paradigm Crest and Amethyst Grotto to him along with several of his most trustworthy comrades. For the others, they were given the mission to help mend the rifts between man and Pokemon, so that they may one day learn to coexist together in harmony as the Original One had envisioned.
Over the centuries, the scars of the past gradually faded away, and eventually the two races were able to reconcile under the guidance and encouragement of the Blessed. However, by then, they were called by a different epithet, for they were not the same valiant warriors who before. They were the Aura Wielders - descendants of the Blessed warriors of the War, tirelessly working to preserve and continue their ancestors' legacies as protectors of the realm.

Aura Wielders can be divided into two variants: the Ancients, and the Moderns.
The Ancients are descendants of the original Blessed warriors, and were long-time protectors of the Aevium region up until their extinction approximately 3000 years ago at the hands of the Garufa. For this reason, the Ancients have a far longer history than their present-day counterparts and are therefore more well-versed in the intricacies of their mystical gifts.
Moderns, on the other hand, are a new breed of Aura Wielders. The first generation of Moderns are warriors handpicked by Nymiera to serve as Aevium’s newest protectors, each bestowed a Blessing much like their forebears of the distant past. However, the difference is that instead of gaining and deriving their abilities from their spirit Pokemon, their powers are determined by the Pokemon their souls have bonded with. In their case, it is the Regi familiars that Nymiera had gifted them.
Because of this difference, Moderns generally have a much lower risk of backlash should they overuse their powers.
What is the backlash? It is the gradual but irreversible and unmistakable erosion of the Aura Wielder’s humanity. The more they overuse their powers, the less human and more animalistic they become. This condition is exacerbated by emotional instability.
In the worst case scenario, the Aura Wielder transforms into a grotesque creature resembling a twisted parody of the anthropomorphised form of their bonded or spirit Pokemon. Very often, they lose their minds during the transformation process, becoming mindless beasts who will viciously attack anything that moves in their peripheral - including themselves.
This phenomena is known as “Degeneration”.
For a better visual, a degenerated Aura Wielder’s form would look like Rift Aelita’s appearance. Admittedly, Rift Aelita is considered to be one of the tamer cases of Degeneration at its terminal stage, as most victims are usually so far gone that the only option is to grant them a swift painless death.
In the best case scenario, the Aura Wielder simply assumes the form of their bonded or spirit Pokemon without losing their minds and/or their identities. This transformation is irreversible, as with the case with Degeneration, and once an Aura Wielder undergoes this process they are considered dead. Moreover, the longer they remain in their new Pokemon form, the less they remember of their time as a human and ultimately forgetting that they were ever human once upon a time.
Despite the ever-present risk of Degeneration, being an Aura Wielder its boons. Among many benefits, Aura Wielders are physically superior to humans; not only are they capable of overwhelming most humans with laughable ease in a bout, their bodies are also a lot sturdier and have astonishingly powerful healing factors. What would permanently incapacitate or even kill a human, an Aura Wielder could fully recover from such injuries in a matter of weeks or months. Sometimes they may only sustain minor wounds from such incidents!
Furthermore, Aura Wielders have potent immune systems and very rarely fall victim to illnesses, if at all. And that’s not even covering what they can do with their aura.
In general, all Aura Wielders can generate solid constructs from their aura such as force fields, energy blasts and even weapons! They can also transfer their aura into another being to accelerate their healing process or to invigorate them, though it is rather draining and can be fatal to the Aura Wielder if done improperly or when too much aura is transferred out at once. Moreover, they can sense the auras of other beings within a certain radius and discern their thoughts/emotions in this manner, making it impossible for anyone to lie to an Aura Wielder. This also allows them to see through objects, and allows them to ‘see’ while blinded via a form of echolocation using weak pulses of aura.
For Aura Wielders with a higher level of mastery over their auras, they can even use their own reserves to empower their bonded Pokemon’s attacks. This makes the Pokemon moves significantly more potent and effective than it normally is, and hence could be used as a last resort to defeat/overwhelm their foes when they are on their last legs. They may also utilise their own aura to protect themselves and those around them from mind-control.
In addition, when severely injured, they may enter what is known as a “healing stasis”. Essentially, what it does is that the Aura Wielder falls comatose while their heart and respiration rate slows to a deathlike lull. To the inexperienced, it may seem as though the Aura Wielder had died. In reality, their bodies are simply prioritising its energy towards regeneration and recovery; within a matter of days or perhaps weeks, the Aura Wielder will awaken from their stasis with no worse for wear.
Not only that, they can use their aura to communicate with others telepathically and empathetically should they - for whatever reason - are unable to do so verbally.
However, most - if not all - Ancients would be unwilling to participate in empathetic communication especially if the other party is considered a stranger to them. This is because it is regarded as an extremely intimate gesture (due to it involving both parties exposing their true selves with each other), one that should only be done with close family members and life-partners. Forcing an Aura Wielder to do an empathetic communication is akin to violation, and the offender will face severe repercussions by the victim’s clan for such a transgression.
This is where the similarities between Moderns and Ancients end, other than their unique ability to manipulate Type Energy and their innate ability to understand the language of Pokemon.
For Ancients, they would exhibit attributes and behavioural patterns that are commonly associated with their spirit Pokemon. An example would be that an Aura Wielder with a dragon-type as their spirit Pokemon are likely to be prideful, overprotective to the point of being possessive of what they deem as theirs, having an apparent dislike for colder environments and et cetera.
They also acquire resistances or even immunities to extreme conditions, depending on their type affinity. For instance, one with a fire affinity would be immune to fires and extremely high temperatures.
Moderns have a lesser variant of this, in which they also benefit from their type affinities but not to the same extent as their ancient counterparts. For example, Anju - with her affinity for Ice - would have an inhumanly high tolerance for the cold, but she is not completely immune to it. Should the temperature fall beyond her threshold range, she can no longer ignore the effects the cold has on her body and must rectify it lest it takes a toll on her health.
*Note: these are only the surface of what most Aura Wielders are capable of. Variations may exist between individuals, depending on how they had developed their own gifts. If you want to know more, feel free to drop an ask.
Ah hello :D I was thinking like an academy in the woods that's hidden by magic like regular people who try to go there get lost in the woods :p Idk if hogwarts is like this (don't watch/read HP :// but yeah just generic magic :p) The familiar I think of as a companion that you get when your magic reaches a certain level? And like they have a magical power that helps boost yours. So then mine just recently reached that level hehe and you can choose Bin's familiar :D - 🐸🌱
