Daphne let out a content sigh at the little giggles that filled the garden. No one could say her daughter wasn’t energetic, she’d been walking for a few weeks now and spent most of her time stomping through the flowers before falling backwards and just sitting on the crushed blooms while another string of giggles left her. It was the most perfect sound in the world and really she’d given up trying to save the flowers that hadn’t been given a protective little fence when Susannah had started to walk. But now they knew what to expect with their next one who was only a few months off. No one could say that she and Ubbe had any problems conceiving. It was one thing to be a natural, it was another to have an active child that wasn’t even a year and a half with another on the way. “Sweetheart please not Mommy’s flowers.”
If she wasn’t so exhausted she would have gotten to her feet and scooped the little girl up but she’d been following her around the garden like a nervous chicken for the better part of the morning. The sound of the door opening made her smile and she didn’t need to look back to know that Ubbe had returned. “Your daughter has decided she hates daisies and they’ve been destroyed.” She looked towards him thankful for the shade of the tree she’d set the blanket under. “If she starts running again it’s your turn. I don’t know where she gets the energy from.”
Their daughter on the other hand had yanked a daisy from it’s stem and held it out to Ubbe with a giggle
