tears wetting your pillowcase

but he's snoring all the same?

do you wish he'd roll out of bed?

hit his head and swiftly die?

or do you wish he'd notice it?

and just hold you while you cry?

you wonder if he's pretending,

ignoring so he doesn't wake up late

you seethe and clench your fists

but it doesn't make the silence break 

take a secret trip to the bathroom

blow your nose, splash your face

the clock reads two oh three a m

nightmares are better than this place

tuck back under the covers, cold

and your man rolls on to his back 

it's a shame you're wide awake now

and the darkness comes racing back

probably having some sweet dreams

your mind feels raw and you wonder

how chaos can lie so close to peace
