I tried to rig him but I can't wrap my head around it rn. Tposing Morolian for you.
Is it not more interesting if William always had the darkness in him? If the young William Carter was bitter and spiteful, and once he got something that gave him real, actual power, he took it? If he willingly shook off his identity as William Carter out of a need to kill his past self and be reborn?
Is it not more interesting if Charlie always had some level of rage and bloodlust inside of her? If simmering below, deep below her genuine kindness and love, was a genuine rage, hate, anger that couldn't be expressed?
Why not have William Carter still have the selfishness and hunger for power and control that Maxwell does? Why not have Charlie have a level of bloodlust that was turned into reacting like a shark smelling blood when someone steps into the dark? Why not have shadow magic take your worst traits, your worst impulses, and just make them, well, worse?
Isn't it more interesting if the shadow magic didn't completely change them, and instead brought out elements that were already there? Isn't it more interesting if they were never saints, never completely innocent?
Isn't that more interesting than conceptualizing William Carter as completely different from Maxwell? Charlie as completely different from the Shadow Queen? Isn't it more interesting if they were there all along?
