OOC:
I was just about to start role-playing when I realised my folder gifs is on my other laptop. :'( So I shall be back tomorrow once I transfer it to para and that! The internet isn't picking up on my laptop, so for the mean time I need to use my sisters which really isn't a problem at all; but I thought I'd let you know the reason for my slow replies as of late. Anyway, this is a list (or rather a sentence -___-) of all the replies I owe and will get to tomorrow. I should have replied to everyone else, but if I haven't just let me know! Goodnight my fine fellows. <33 x
OWE:
GoodheartedGuinevere-Gemma, gif convo.
Envy: A Modern AU.
Guinevere put her ancient, silver golf into park and tried her best not to worry about the horrible spluttering noise that sounded from the engine -it was something the car had started doing a few weeks ago and Gwen knew that she could not afford to fix it if her car were to break down. Just having to worry about such tiny details made her all the more envious of her boss, Morgana Le Fay, who lived in the most luxurious manor house (A house that put the tiny apartment Gwen rented with best friend Merlin to shame) and wouldn’t even think twice about forking out £200.
Gwen wouldn’t let such things put her down though, tonight was the night of Morgana and Arthur’s engagement party and Gwen was invited as a guest and not a member of staff -it was something she’d been looking forward to for months. Merlin was invited too, as well as have the town, and seeing as he couldn’t drive Gwen had to take him to the event. She turned to him now with a soft smile on her face, he really did look very handsome in his tux and bow tie. But Gwen knew Merlin hated it, he kept pulling at the tie and Gwen had to keep slapping his hand away and demanding he “leave it be”. Gwen had chosen an equally handsome dress was the occasion. It was a dark green, off-the-shoulder dress that fell right down to her feet. Usually fancy dresses were a luxury Gwen would never splash out on but she’d found it on sale. And for perhaps the first time in her life she actually looked nice. Not bedraggled, not like she’d gotten ready in ten minutes, not like her washing machine had broken down and she’d been forced to wear the same clothes twice without washing them, just nice.
“You ready?” she smiled.
He raised an eyebrow and smiled in return, Gwen knew that Merlin was looking forward to the open bar waiting for them inside just as much as she was…
Morgana’s home actually had a ballroom inside it, which Gwen quietly thought was just a bit too over the top, as if anyone would ever need a ballroom across from their kitchen. The room was beautifully decorated but Gwen had helped with the whole thing so she couldn’t really be blown away by the midnight blue decorations and twinkling lights.
“W-o-o-w” Merlin breathed from her side. Gwen turned and smiled, he obviously was impressed, which at least meant that Gwen was doing her job correct.
And then he left without so much as a goodbye. “Okay then.” Gwen said to herself. Her tone didn’t really hold much annoyance, she knew Merlin wasn’t the type to stick by her side for the entire night. Now alone, she briefly thought about tracking down Morgana and congratulating her on her engagement -after all Morgana was more than just Gwen’s boss, they had become quite close over the past year. But after a moment’s deliberation she decided that Morgana would probably be too busy doing whatever brides-to-be did at their engagement party -discuss wedding plans with friends, look through gifts… Gwen had no idea.
In the end she decided she would just go to the bar and get a drink. That was a normal thing to do right? Probably not, drinking alone was what alcoholics did. Gwen tried not to let the thought depress her. She hiked up the bottom of the lilac coloured full length gown so that her nude coloured heels could be visible and walked towards the make-shift (but still very proper looking) bar that had been erected in one corner of the room.
“Guinevere.” She heard a familiar voice call the second she’d taken a seat at the bar. Gwen instantly looked up to find the man who’d called her name. It was Arthur, Morgana’s fiancé. Gwen genuinely liked Arthur, which was saying a lot considering the family he belonged to, she thought he was funny and sweet and she’d never felt as if he looked down on her for not having a lot of money -something a majority of Morgana’s friends did so often that Gwen had just gotten used to the dark stares and giggling behind her back.
“Hello Arthur.” Gwen said with a smile on her face and she moved down two stools to sit next to him.
“What are you doing here?” She asked, nudging him playfully in the arm. “I thought you’d be off charming all your friends into buying you expensive wedding gifts.”
Arthur chuckled. “My friends are a bunch of pompous asses.”
Gwen looked at him for a moment with a quizzical expression on her face then let out an uncontrolled laugh “Nice.” She said through giggles. “And I’m sure they have very high opinions of you too.”
Arthur mocked an expression of shock and hurt before saying;
“I’m deeply offended Guinevere. I happen to hold their opinions in very high respect.”
They both laughed and after a moment Arthur asked;
“What are you having?”
Gwen turned to look at the list of drinks sitting on the bar, she couldn’t be bothered looking through the elaborate cocktails so went straight to the default of;
“Vodka and coke please.”
Arthur indicated to the barman, who had clearly overheard Gwen’s ordered, to get two vodkas and cokes. When the nameless man had turned away from them Arthur opened his mouth once more to speak unfortunately his words were lost in the arrival of Morgana -looking as stunning as ever in a designer, navy blue dress with intricate lace detailing around the chest and sleeves and poker straight hair that fell effortlessly down her back. It was obvious in less than a heartbeat that Arthur only had eyes for Morgana, his entire position changed in her presence, he was instantly more relaxed and his arm found it’s way around her waist and pulled Morgana towards him in a motion that seemed to have occurred without even thinking. But Morgana’s expression did not mirror Arthur’s, Gwen had difficulty describing it. It was almost …anger? Surely not. Who could possibly be angry when they had someone who looked at them the way Arthur looked at her?
