Our West Carrollton team was really excited for the opportunity to work on this immaculate ’99 Ford F-350 Super Duty! Having bought this truck brand new 20 years ago, our customer decided it was time to update the audio system. He had some AWESOME vintage Kicker 200si amps, that had been removed from a previous car decades ago and stored safely away in their original boxes, waiting for the right time and the right plan. Well that time came, and he asked us to build a modern system around these classic amps.
So we installed a new Kenwood eXcelon Reference DDX9906XR headunit with Carplay, for seamless integration with his phone. One Kicker amp was used to power a JL Audio Stealthbox, which includes a 10” W1v3 subwoofer that is completely hidden inside the center seat cushion. The remaining amp powers an Audiofrog G60S component set, with tweeters positioned perfectly in custom pods that we built in-house. Plenty of M.E.S.A. Vibration Damping Material was used to ensure the best possible audio performance, as well as to keep road noise to a minimum. Finally, a little tuning time with our AudioControl RTA got the Kenwood’s powerful built-in EQ dialed in just right! It’s a relatively simple system, but man does this truck sound awesome! It was really rewarding to see the smile on our customer’s face, when he saw and heard our finished product!
