Click 'Update Preview' at the top of the edit window, it should load! You may have to click it twice to force it to update, but it should load the preview.

It turned out to be session box all along!! Thanks to @ashley-rps for her tip because it was driving me crazy! So just make sure you’re not on session box and you’ll never run into that weird loading screen in preview again!
