Mallory sat there on her bed at the school. Like expected, Ben wasn’t overly happy when she admitted to him that she took the limo, but, when she explained to him that she just had to get away after a particularly bad argument with Audrey, he decided he understood. Unfortunately, it was a lie. The particularly bad argument didn’t happen until after they had gotten back to Auradon. For now, it seemed that Audrey was keeping quiet about the Sleeping Curse, and the trip to the Isle, but she had no idea how long that was going to last. Audrey had made it quite clear that she hated her. But she had to know. That comment about Maleficent was far too pointed, far more fact, for Audrey. There was something behind it, and she needed to know what Audrey seemed to think she had over her.
Which meant she had to corner her and talk to her. She knew she’d never get her to talk to her about it when they were public, and she could already tell that it was not a conversation she wanted anyone else hearing. Which meant Audrey’s room. She was one of the few princesses that had their own room at the school, and, if legend had it, her closet was soundproofed to keep relaxation to a maximum... or something like that.
So she slipped out of her room and into Audrey’s before she could get Audrey to yell out, shutting the door behind her. And, with that, her arms folded in front of her chest.
“We have to talk,” she said quietly, before Audrey had a chance to yell out. Hopefully, the fact that Mallory was back to her normal blonde looks and Auradon-styled outfits helped. Heck, she and Audrey had bought the shirt she was wearing together about two months before she came here. Hopefully that appealed to the other girl. “I get that you hate me. I don’t know what I did to get you to hate me, only that it happened long before Ben came into the picture. What I do know is that I lost control of my magic when that curse happened. It was not intentional, and yes, I got scared. I didn’t think anyone would believe me when I told them that it was an accident and that I had no idea how I even did it. So I came up with the only solution I could think of to get you out of the curse without involving anyone... even if that meant going to the one place that scared me the most. I don’t even want to think about what might have happened if someone saw us there. But you only spent about an hour in it, and, according to my mom’s notes, you shouldn’t experience any of the after effects. I really do hope you find it in you to forgive me. And I... I know you don’t owe me anything, but... if you made that comment about Maleficent for any other reason then to hurt me, please... just tell me.”
Her arms fell to her sides. There... she said her peace. If Audrey wanted to throw her out now, she could, but at least she got everything out. And, who knows? This could be the start of them reconciling their friendship... though something told her she shouldn’t hold her breath on that one.
