#morningwarmupsketch 08/06/20 Sometimes doing these memorial sketches can heartbreaking. Today's drawing is of Daisy Coleman from the 2016 Netflix documentary, Audrie & Daisy. The documentary focuses on two girls from different towns who were victims of sexual assault and the fallout that ensued as they tried to pick up the pieces of their lives. I still have yet to watch it, the only reason I knew it existed is that I saw Tori Amos posted that she was doing a song for the soundtrack. Last night I saw a news post that Daisy Coleman had committed suicide, she was only 23. Reading a story like this fills me with rage knowing that those who committed the assault against her have now in my opinion, have become murderers. I just watched this documentary and it inspired me to share something I've never told anyone but have 100% recollection of.

What sucks the most is I just wrote out the whole incident but I feel like it is insufficient compared to those who suffered in this documentary and all over the world.

In the end, my story is just one more of the sexual assault stories that need to be acknowledged. And if you are a victim and are struggling know that you have one more ally on your side ready to fight for you.

Sometimes you don't even have words, you're literally speechless and there's 10 million things still running through your mind. At the end of the documentry I was still thinking about how the sheriff laughed as he asked if the boys, who raped two 13/14 year old girls, were really the ones who had commited a crime. What do you even say to someone who thinks like that?

I just watched Audrie & Daisy. A very hard watch, but the most important film you will see this year. Go watch. NOW.
