Astral Projection Questions pt. 1: General Information
*I’m making a note here about my use of the word astral plane/real. I’m using this word very loosely, as the astral plane is not the only plane that can be accessed by projecting. So by using the words astral plane/realm I’m using it more as an umbrella term to encompass the planes outside of the astral plane as well as to not convolute the post too much.
*a note on the use of Akashic records: the word derives from the Hindu word “akasha” (aether,etc.). The word eventually was appropriated by Blavatsky, but is now universally used to reference the same thing- a space of infinite memory, information, thoughts etc. I do not like Blavatsky, but as many contemporary media names it these days, the Akashic record is real, no matter the name you use for it. Preferentially, one should use akasha, or aether, or even library.
Part 2 | Part 3
So,
I feel like I don’t see enough posts about astral projection, what it is, how to do it, what happens etc. So I’ll answer a lot of these questions as best I can, but I suggest further research.
Before you read the rest of this post, I highly suggest that you read books about astral projecction. Look into academic papers, and look into resources about the CIA and their input into astral projection. (The CIA is known for polluting information to make it seem like it’s dangerous so that people don’t attempt these things. A lot of what the CIA says about this stuff, you should take with a grain of salt and do your own research and talk to people who have actually done these things. While some of their info is correct, some is NOT).

Question 1: What is Astral Projection? I’m not going to answer this, because that is a very convoluted answer that most of us know and can be found very easily by using Google (I know, I’m sorry to those who don’t know, but the internet search bar can tell you way more and in a better way than I can).
Question 2: How do you project? Also a very convoluted answer because there are a million and one ways to do this. As I always say, if you ask 10 people they will give you 11 answers. This is also something you can find by googling, BUT if you would like to know how I astral project, I plan on making a separate post in this series about it.
Question 3: Can you get lost/stuck in the astral plane? No. You cannot get lost. You’re probably familiar with the cord that attaches you to your physical body. That cord physically, and spiritually cannot be cut or detached from your body, because that cord is you and you have an attachment to your physical body, no matter what. There’s really no way to talk around this. That’s just what it is.
Question 4: What can you do in the astral planes? What can’t you do? I think the most popular thing to do when you get into the astral realm, is to visit places or visit friends and family. *To make a note about that, make sure the people you are visiting, know you are visiting them. I’m about to get into morals and values in the astral realm in a different post, but it’s just kind of being a good person to not spy on people.
Another popular thing to do in the astral realm is time travel. You can kind of go wherever you want in history and in present time. Theoretically, you can go to the future, but as I understand it, going to the future does not show you the absolute future. It more shows you what could happen in the future so in theory, you could visit several different types of futures. Theoretically, you could also visit several different types of pasts or presents. Other activities can include traveling the tree of life. Visiting the Akashic records. Something I’ve been wanting to do recently is creating my own pocket world. I’ve made a post on this already. I have not done it. My husband on the other hand has done it.
I call it a pocket world, other people will call it other things. It’s a space in the astral realm that you have created yourself. Where the space exists I don’t know. I don’t have that answer. This pocket can be quite literally be whatever you want it to be. I feel that people who think that they are shifting realities are actually going to a pocket world that they have created through manifestation. My husband created his pocket world through meditation. It kind of show showed itself to him through a door, and he built off of it every time he meditated. Then anytime he would astral project, that private world was there ready for him to go to. I can make a separate post on this as well if anybody is interested. This space he created could also be seen as his inner temple.
According to books I’ve read, you can also visit astral worlds or pocket worlds as they’re called. I also don’t know how these are created nor has any book that I’ve read ever claimed to know how they were made. The theory is that these pocket worlds were created out of the collective consciousness. So these worlds might be the real back rooms, as these worlds have been described as being empty malls or business buildings or fields (areas that are familiar to the collective consciousness). I’ve personally never visited one of these before nor have I ever wanted to, but according to these books and people who have visited these places, there is absolutely nothing dangerous there.
Other things that you can do in the astral realm is kind of up to your imagination at the end of the day. You can also visit dead loved ones, spirit, guides, and Deities, if you’re incredibly lucky and have a great relationship.
Question 5: What do you look like? A lot of people might not actually care about this question, but there’s some debate over what you will look like when you astral project. Some people say you look like a ball of light, others say you just look like a silhouette of your physical body. Will you be clothed? Will you be naked? Mind you, I don’t think any of this is fact because, I think this answer will change depending on who you ask. What you will look like, is what you think you will look like.
Sometime ago I saw a TikTok from somebody saying that they were this ethereal being with these big magic wings and all these different identifications. I’m not gonna say that they didn’t look like that, but they were probably just trying to sound cool on TikTok. My personal opinion is how you perceive yourself is how you will look on the astral plane. So this may be good news for people who do not see their physical body as how they perceive themselves. examples can include transgender folk, people who identify as otherkin, and it can even be simple things like a haircut, limbs (people who may be missing a limb in the physical world, may have that limb in the astral realm), wearing glasses or having tattoos or none, and many many more.
Actually, fun fact about myself, when I was younger, I was obsessed with Maximum ride, so I started to imagine, then perceive myself as having wings. This became such a thing in my head, that every time I dreamed, I had wings. *Which goes into other theories about whether or not dreaming is done on the astral realm or on surrounding realms. Whenever I would project, I would have wings. Funny enough, when I astral project now, I still have wings. This is despite the fact that I am no longer obsessed with that book or the idea of having wings, but I think it was so ingrained in my adolescent mind that it just never went away. This is why I will end this question as, you will present yourself, but sometimes how you perceive yourself is very fluid and maybe you won’t present in the way that you care to. Don’t get in your head about it.
These were the first few questions I could think of. If there are any other general questions not posted in posts beyond this, let me know! I can add!
