Mystery/Thriller Monday

August Snow is tough, smart, and was drummed out of the police force by corrupt cops and politicians. He sued the city though, and was awarded $12 million in a wrongful dismissal settlement. That, though, has meant that his friends are not all there anymore.

He moves back to the house he grew up in, in Mexicantown, and soon after that he’s summoned to the home of Eleanore Paget. She wants him to investigate what’s going on at her own wealth management bank. He says no. But, then the next day, she winds up dead of (apparently) suicide.

Well, it would be a very boring book if Snow simply shrugged and went on with his life. He doesn’t buy the suicide conclusion, and so he starts looking into it. Which, brings him into the world of all sorts of dangerous criminals from all walks of life.
