Finishing out the snow set; Augustine & Amery

Augustine: They didn’t have any better choices.

Dusk: Because i’m different? Some freak of nature?

Augustine: Because it was too dangerous...

Dusk: I don’t know who you are or what you’re even doing here. But I don’t need to be hounded even in my dreams about how i’m too dangerous to be around people. I just want to be left alone!

Augustine: You have no idea how long it’s taken to find you...we hid you too well.

Dusk: I’ve been here the whole time. No one’s missing me.

Augustine: Aren’t you lonely here? Don’t you want to go home?

Dusk:  My parents left me here, they’re scared of me. I can’t go home...

“Back? Like...back to my body?”

“Exactly how you left it.”

Augustine frowned as those words sunk in; he’d left his body essentially fried after channeling raw magic. If he went back he was as good as dead.

“ ...So what do I need to do?”

“You need to find the boy. “

“The boy? (Sigh) The baby, right? How the hell am I supposed to find him? I have no idea where I sent him. “

“You’ll work it out... “

Amery:  You're dead? Augustine: Not at the moment but I can't go back. If you keep trying to 'help' me then I will be. You need to forget about me and move on. Amery:  (Softly) I don't want to just forget about you... Augustine: This is the way it has to be, i’m really sorry.

Although he didn’t return the other’s feelings in the same way; he really hadn’t meant to hurt Amery like this.  It was painful to watch.

Augustine: I’m sorry but i’m not awake. You’re asleep...

Amery took a step back as he felt his stomach drop at that revelation; not wanting to believe it.

Amery: What? No...I was just here why would I be sleeping here? If i’m asleep why are you in my dream? Why can’t you just wake up and talk to me?

Augustine sighed softly and licked his lips trying to think how to phrase it.

Augustine: It’s complicated but...basically i’m not going to wake up.

Amery: What? Why?! Please just tell me and i’ll do anything it takes!

Augustine: If I wake up then I’m dead.  If you want to help me then you need to help your brother.

As Amery stirred he pushed himself up off the floor and glanced around. He was stunned as he caught sight of Augustine.

Amery: Augustine! You’re awake? What’s going on? Are you ok?!

He rushed over to pull the other into a tight hug while murmuring softly into his hair.

Amery: I was so worried about you! I  kept looking through your books to try and help you but they didn’t make any sense...
