I interpreted clement's Deathquote as will "history remember my sacrifice for Agustria", thats what a Japanese fansite also viewed. I wouldn't call that selfish or out for glory.
That’s a way to interpret it. Maybe I’m so biased (the game is) against minor villains, especially the corrupted augstrian nobles that we see him in a bad light? Heck, no one will remember his sacrifice for Augstria because Ares is going to be king, he is Seliph’s BFF and Siggy did nothing wrong in Agustria - rather, Granvalle did nothing wrong.

maybe in the first few years it’ll be roses and sunshine, but after a decade or two Ares might be bitter about what Granvalle did to Agustria - but heck if Clement is not going to be mentioned, but rather the Granvallian occupation during Siggy - the one Reptor and Langobalt commanded - or the occupation/thing that happened during Oldvis’ reign.
