I don't remember if I've posted this before but this was my Max Ride costume some years ago. Yes I made the wings myself.
I am pro-self-diagnosis because before I could get to a professional, all I had was self diagnosis and honestly? Doing the legwork of figuring out I have depression, autism, ADHD, and auditory processing disorder saved me a bunch of time when I DID get to a professional. I was able to succinctly say "I want to be tested for x, y, and z because I have a, b, and c symptoms" and golly gee that was helpful!
Anyway self-diagnosis is NOT BAD! It can be a lifeline to hold on to until you can get professional help! Know thyself binch! If you can go to your first appointments already able to talk about specifically what's wrong, that is much more productive than just shrugging and goin "mmm IDK but sommat is wrong"

I wish it were more acceptable to talk about maladaptive daydreaming scenarios because I came up with a really funny one. My character ended up in Stark Tower unconscious and then Tony and Pepper heard something go bump in the night and they go to investigate and this winged girl who is supposed to be recovering from a gunshot wound is standing in the middle of their kitchen, in the process of eating an uncooked block of ramen noodles straight out of the wrapper.
