The Darkness in Kingdom Hearts makes for an excellent allegory for Depression. Especially looking at characters like Riku and Aqua. There's a few quotes if you replaced the word darkness with Depression, they become quite profound...

(E.g. "Your strength is so much vaster's than depression.")
