its not that. it's just don't gods like to meddle? seems like a weird choice in an organization that goes after bad creatures of the same type. what if your god turns evil? what then?
"Things aren't that simple, but you already highlighted the difference here: we go after bad creatures of the same type. And even then, every 'evil' creature is nuanced. There's a system we have to abide by now, it's not like the Ancient Times where we can go crusading through the cosmos without a plan.
"Most gods are dead by now, but say for some reason that mine isn't and it does turn into a giant threat-- I will not be deployed to take care of the issue, as it would be a conflict of interest and possible liability. Being in the Order, you kind of have to be prepared to let go of higher things even if it's in our nature to respect the balance mortal and divinity can bring. Just don't threaten their domains and give them an occasional offering and everything's fine. They may be powerful but we're stronger than them.
"Because the thing is: mortals can heal from a loss of religion-- gods can't."
Aunon, as much as you are really strong and cool looking, I actually think you look kinda cute. Don't get me wrong, swordplay is amazing and I'll bet you're great at it, and it doesn't make you any less of a warrior, but still. Cute. I'd give a headpat if you'd allow me.
"...What? .....Sure, I guess."
"Damn, not one of you have bought me a drink yet and we're already here, huh?"
big fuckin ask uhhhhhh
you ever think about not having the symbol of a god on your FACE? that seems like a really bad idea, even if they're a dead one? ==-==;;
"Despite the nature of things here, we do try to respect peoples' personal faiths in the Order.
"It would be no different than having it on my arm or elsewhere on my torso. Does that knowledge bother you just as badly? If so, you're going to have to learn a lot if you want to be able to be here."
was.... that a fairy behind you? oo-oo
"Hm. Probably. There's not only Trolls here, but other races as well. We do have fae as part of the Order. Some of their courts are allied with us as well."
Aunon, do you think there's ever a point where training stops? Where rest can be taken properly?
"Of course. Why do you think I go to the pub? Training for me is to keep my skills sharp-- I'll never know when I'm going to be needed. That said, I don't shirk responsibility though; time off is great, but I can't forget what I'm here for."
please tell me you're taking ragtag to the pub with you oh my god???
A: "I can't take Ragtag to the Outside. No living enchantments outside of HQ. It's the rules."
R: "But I'll be gooood!"
A: "I can't. Last time someone snuck you out it took months getting the gunk out of your cloth."
R: "You're just afraid I'll drink you under the table! Which I will! I have a liver of steel!"
A: "You don't have a liver."
R: "....Oh yeah!"
Aunon what's with that symbol on your face? Is it yours or the Orders?
"The sigil for the ==Artisan==, a patron deity from where I grew up. I wear the symbol for protection and to invoke its presence to help me in my endeavors. It's... more superstition than anything. More than likely it is a dead god by now. Such be the fate of many creatures since the Ancient Times. But I feel nearly naked without it."
