1/2 for today, the second to last day. it's been a fun month lmao
femslash february #27: aureille (disclose)
mireille is happy. she's got good friends, she's avoided bullies, she gets good grades, and she gets to be a presenter on tv sometimes. and sometimes people recognise her in the streets, which can be nice.
actually, that last one has ups and downs. she expresses to her best friend aurore one time that she isn't comfortable with attention from male fans. they have a tendency to ogle her, and she's been catcalled a few times specifically for being a weather girl - like they'll whistle at her and call her "tv girl". aurore empathises and commiserates, of course; she's dealt with the same thing. but she asks mireille if there's a reason she specified "male fans", because aurore herself has felt that way about attention from all kinds of fans. sure, male fans do it more often, but still. and mireille says she hasn't even thought about it - it hasn't bothered her, at least.
so aurore pulls up the wiki page on lesbianism on her phone and hands it over, and mireille spends the next ten minutes scrolling with wide eyes. (yes, she's that sheltered.) when she's done she hands the phone back and is like, "that sounds... pretty cool, actually." then aurore pulls up pictures of lesbian couples, and mireille goes speechless. a couple of months later, mireille comes out on camera, during a stinger/discussion thing between two programs, and she wears a pride flag shirt for all her appearances that week.
the response is weird. many are supportive; social media is flooded with fanart. but also, she somehow gets catcalled more now, and some people say it's harmful for a kids' tv presenter to be "like that". mireille goes to aurore for support, but the type of support she receives is very unexpected: aurore helps by coming out as a lesbian demisexual on camera a week later, and kissing mireille on the mouth. on a live transmission.
they're fired the next day. but somehow, mireille doesn't mind.
