"Kagami! I have a gift for you!"

The gift was a choker, with dark silk stringing a small dragon charm, designed to sit close on the throat like the dragon miraculous did.

"It's lovely," Kagami said, studying the charm. Marinette's new interest in metalwork shone through with the delicate craftsmanship. It wasn't perfect, but it was still made with love and care. Longg would love it. "May I ask what inspired you?"

Marinette's cheeks turned pink, which was a strange reaction. "Oh, uh, it's a dumb reason..." She fiddled with her fingers. Kagami waited though, knowing that her dear friend would always eventually tell her. "I was doing some reading about medieval French authors for my Literature class, and they introduced this thing called courtly love to King Arthur." Wait. "And one of the things was that ladies would give, like, little tokens of their support to their favorite knight, usually before a tournament."

Kagami's entire face went hot. "And...?"

"And I was thinking that, hey, Kagami deserves to be cheered on at all of her tournaments, but I can't always make them!" Marinette stopped fiddling and began to instead rock on her heels, her face growing even more red. "So I decided to make a token for you, so that you always know I'm cheering you on, but now that I think about it, I don't think you can wear it with your fencing uniform-"

Marinette reached for it and, in a burst of instinct, Kagami hissed as she protectively pressed the choker to her heart.

...what the fuck.

Kagami couldn't let her shock stay too long, though.

"No. It's mine now," Kagami clicked the choker around her neck. It sat warm on her skin and she could actually visualize Marinette making it, her loving fingers forming the charm. "You can't take it back. I will wear your token proudly-"

A thought seized her.

She grabbed Marinette's hand and slid her family's ring off, sliding it onto her finger.

"As long as you wear mine."

okay so this starts as a redemption/reconciliation idea but it's got an alternate comedy ending. i might write either in the future, honestly ^^;

femslash february #26: lilanette (issue, noon)

bodyswap fic. lila and marinette wake up in each other's bodies just after s2 - and react in almost opposite ways. marinette tries to find out everything she can, to figure out the truth about lila, and she tries to make lila act more honest. but when she discovers all the alternate identities, she hits a wall. lila, on the other hand, decides to make marinette look bad in front of others. she commits petty crimes as ladybug and makes marinette act nasty to friends.

that all lasts for a few days. then marinette realises that lila seems to be barely living at all: she's pretending to live a dozen lives, but she's not fully alive in any of them, it's more like she's on the run. and lila realises that anything she does to make marinette or ladybug look bad, is actually getting reflected directly back at her - because marinette, of course, isn't in that body. she's hurting herself, and it doesn't feel good.

they don't talk about it, though. discussing things with their biggest enemy sounds like a painful experience, and neither of them can do anything about the swap anyway, so they avoid eachother. but with time, both of them come to sympathise more and more with the other, marinette because she sees what lila lacks and lila because she's begun to understand what her lies feel like from the receiving end.

but then alya confronts "marinette" one day and says "i know you're not marinette. so who are you?" and lila realises she needs to have the conversation. she brings alya along and talks to "lila". and while alya decides to start investigating what happened and find a solution, lila and marinette have a long heart-to-heart where they finally get to connect. they hug. and the hug swaps them back. they don't break the hug, though. it feels good to stay like that. even though they hated each other before, it feels good to do the opposite of that instead.

(and now the alt ending: they discover they can swap bodies again by kissing, and soon become The Worst)
