As muskets become lighter, cannon reach further, and the wars to the south between Gods and Sorcerers become ever-more vicious, she’s been looking to the past for reforms. Her namesake, the founder of the Empire, built an iron core of an army that took the Tyrants head-on. She’s been studying those campaigns, and those of the Imperial commanders who followed, to remodel the Legions for wars to come. Now Marcian’s been murdered - someone’s going to end up on the wrong end of a thoroughly modernised army.
