Trick or treat!
Have a diagram of the bizarre life cycle of the telephone-pole beetle, where adults can only be created by artificially heating pupae, and the young burst out of female larvae!

If you had to pick a critter to live as in Formicosa City, what would it be and why?
At this point, I've done so much research on mantises and had enough as pets that I'm partial to them. I'd probably be better off as one of the ants, though. (And Sophodra is probably the only mantis on Formicosa Apex, besides.)
Trick or treat!
BONE. covered in slobber. don't worry about it
Hi Frank! Do you mind if I put a poll on this ask?
Why not?
Thoughts on the rat imperium?
Contrary to popular opinion, the Rat Imperium is, in fact the true birthplace of Alpharius and Omegon. The pair were raised following an agreement between the God Emperor of Mankind and the Vermin Emperor of Ratkind to see what would happen if you used superhumans as actual labrats.
The resultant stealth, cunning and diverse problem solving abilities the XX Primarchs learned were invaluable. Their penchant to scarf down entire cheese wheels at 2am straight out of the pantry less so.
Does Formicosa city have a metropolitan/melting pot culture or is it each swarm keeps more or less to themselves?
Even each Swarm is composed of many daughter Swarms and sister Swarms, so even if they did, they couldn't avoid being melting pots in and of themselves! That said, there is definitely some tension between Swarms to some degree, though the Fly, Beetle, and True Bug Swarms tend to get on pretty well. Moth Swarm gets along with them all right, but the moths' largely nocturnal habits and general hubris (even by Formicosa standards!) put up some walls between them and the others.
Roach Swarm is highly esteemed, but has limited presence in cities that aren't underground.
Grasshopper Swarm is not taken seriously as a true Swarm, and the grasshoppers would not have it any other way.
The ants do not mingle with "lower" insects.
Arachnid Swarm does not have a presence at all on Formicosa Apex (and does not count as a true Swarm besides). And Spider Swarm...ah, poor Spider Swarm. The spiders do everything in their power to fit in with the insect Swarms, and yet they only ever succeed as much as Fly Swarm feels like stepping in for them.
Have you ever read Children of Time? If not I think you would like it. It involves the speculative evolution and development of a society of intelligent spiders!
Currently working my way through and loving it!!
