“Oh, how the tables have turned.”
The young woman, who sat back in decorated armor, cheered within her own mischievous smirk. The Aman and Popori at the card table looked down at their deck, and then the blonde’s. She watched their eyes roll over her sun kissed skin, as if Balder himself blessed her freckled cheeks.
“I can’t-“ The Popori whined, ears coming down against his fur. His tail grew to a sudden halt. Revealing his cards, there was no way he could beat a Four Crowned Basilisk.
The Aman remained quiet, laying his cards face down and leaving the table.
“Four crowned Basilisk, and the gold is mine!” Auriahna leaned forward, hands pulling at every emerald, gold piece, and circlet. Who knew a small stop at the camps of Savage Reach would give her enough money to savor for the rest of her trip before returning to Castanica.
Her parents, although, were the last thing on her mind.
“I told ya boys.” She kept on, laughing at the Aman as he tipped a table and grabbed an onset of half empty booze glasses. He’d be explaining to his ranking officer of the mess, lack of remaining barrels of fine beer, and why the secret stash of stolen treasure was... Well, wasn’t there.
“You had to cheat!” The Popori cried out, gritting his teeth. His stubby stature bounced up his form as he hopped to the floor. His boots scuffed it as he walked towards Auriahna.
She stuck her tongue out, forcing the remaining items into the bag on her hip.
“We- We’ll have you arrested!” The animalistic male continued. His brow lowered, obviously in a panic.
“Fair is fair. If you won, you would have had a night with me. Instead, you gave me a consented agreement as to what would happen if you lost.” She shot him a glance, drawing a bit annoyed with the consistent complaining. The woman huffed through her nose, turning towards the exit where the Aman had been waiting. Giving a wave to the Popori, she made her way to the curtains that allowed the crease of outdoor flames to show through.
Yet, unlike his counter part, the Aman said nothing. A nod was given between the two before she headed out.
It was earlier in the morning than expected. The suns would have barely touched the hillside. The chiming of three echoed from nearby Highwatch. The bare bells reached her perked ears. And as they did, a yawn began to strive for release from her throat.
She had a little ways to go. As long as she was able to make it to the Southern Borders... To where the Great Rift was; There would be a sea of comfort near the horizon.
