It was late in the afternoon, when Gerome finally found the time to head to the stables. While not the slowest of students, he still struggled in some areas, admittedly when it came to those that involved a lot of history. Fodlan is completely new to him, and while he reads and analyzes fast, to catch up took too much of his time. Now he’s left rushing, almost running the moment he exited the Blue Lion’s classroom.
The orange hues that painted the sky hinted day would soon meet the night in less than an hour or so. While he much preferred the evenings, he at least wanted to visit his dearest companion before the day ends. Perhaps even fly as the sun sets.
As he enters the stables, immediately he’s greeted by a familiar cry. There was no one around the area at this time of the day-- none that he can see, anyway-- and for a moment, he lets down his guard, expression softening as he approaches Minerva.
“Apologies, Minerva. I did not manage my time well today. Have you been well?” He lets out a sigh of relief as he sees the black wyvern fairing well, scales full of luster as ever, her soft growls music to his ears. He extends a hand out and runs it down her scales, the closest he can to petting her.
“The day is nearing it’s end, but perhaps it’s not too late to fly out today, Minervykins~ The winter chill might be too much for some, but I believe it’s time to try out that new saddle. The sunset today pales in comparison to your beauty, but it would be the perfect witness to you donning your new accessory. ” He coos as he smiles, interrupted only by another one of Minerva’s cries. The joyous expression fades and is replaced with shock. “You don’t wish to? Is something the matter, Minerva? What do you mean we’re not alone, there’s no one here.”
At the mention of the presence of someone else, Gerome hurriedly looks around, sweat forming and falling from the sides of his face. He was sure there was no one around, damn it!
