» what do your masked eyes see?
Ask prompt from @aurinde: “Just look at the world around you!”
It was a simple errand. A glorified shopping mission tasked on two unfortunate students-- or perhaps just one, as the other seems to be enjoying herself, curious eyes gazing at each and every trinket, tome and anything remotely interest in this busy market.
Not too far from the monastery was a village currently having a bazaar and they were here on pick-up duty. Gerome, like he always does, focuses on the tasks at hand and just the task at hand. So when Linde speaks up and tells him to marvel at their surroundings, he was confused at first. He never took the time to look, failing to notice the hard work the town has put to set all of this up. There was a grand display of colors, and all around them, there was just smiles everywhere.
A glimpse of children with wooden weaponry and chasing each other around reminds him of much simpler, joyous times of playing pretend and holding justice close to their hearts. Sometimes, its easy to forget moments like these were rare.
Unlike most villages they had the misfortune of visiting on some of their missions, this village didn’t suffer from bandit attacks or rampaging beasts or any sort of catastrophe. Maybe it was just for today, but even he knew one should not take for granted the few times fate gives you a moment to celebrate.
It was nice.
“...” He looks at the list he had on hand, most of which were already crossed out. Just a few more and they’d be done for the day. “I can take it from here.” He says, pointing to a fountain in the middle of the village. “Do what you want in the meantime, just meet me there when you’re done.”
He might not be a very festive person, but she seems like the type. So he lets her go, gives her the freedom to roam if she pleases. Maybe she’ll enjoy this festival enough for the both of them.
