Mt Coronam & The Royal Legend
Mt Coronam, as mentioned in my previous report covering My Skyreach, is an active volcano on the outskirts of the Aurora region, it is the sister of Mt Coronet in Sinnoh.
Legends tell of the native Aurorans making a deal with Groudon to push the volcano away from the mainland over thousands of years ago. For many days the Native's prayed and begged, and on the eve of a super eruption, Groudon moved the island several miles off shore.
Today, shrouded in a constant fog of hot, toxic gases, the mouth of the volcano is rarely seen, but we'll get to that shortly.
The base of the volcano is surrounded by petrified trees, dead soil, and ash. Very few Pokémon inhabit the island, with only the most hardy of rock and fire types able to withstand the temperatures.
Over the course of time, as the crust broke and the volcano was formed, the Geodude species evolved to cope with the harsh temperatures, forming into what we know today as the Rock/Fire type species.
This species of Geodude, Graveler and Golem work together inside the volcano to divert excess heat and force magma flow so avoid major eruptions which would plunge the region into darkness.
Other Pokémon reported within the vicinity of Mt Coronam are Relicanth.
Moltres has also apparently been glimpsed flying toward the peak to rejuvenate in the magma, though definitive proof has yet to be seen.
The Royal Legend is subject to much fierce debate here in Aurora, has many ancient texts of the Auroran Kingdom are lost, destroyed or stolen.
The descendants of Native Aurora tell of five powerful elemental dragon type Pokémon believed to be related to several species alive today (Garchomp, Gyarados, Charizard, Zekrom and Rayquaza are the most argued examples) that terrorised ancient Aurora, and they could only be tamed by forging a weapon with a scale of the beast.
The King forged give weapons, and appointed his five most competent knights to.tame the beasts in a Pokémon battle. He used this elite group of knights to push back any contest of his land.
Information is sparse as to the outcome of his reign, as is information regarding the fate of these dragons, though many believe they are alive, laying dormant until someone calls them forth from their collective slumber.
The connection between Mt Coronam and the Royal Legend is the name. Coronam loosely translate from Old Tongues as Crown, and the Royal Legend states that the knights would sit atop their respective elemtnal Dragons atop The Crown of the World.
While it is difficult, researchers, scientists and geographers have attempted to pilot cameras attached to flying Pokémon through the smog surrounding the mouth of Mt Coronam, but results have been...foggy, at best. It is believed the Crown still exists, 5 weather-worm spires, a shadow of their ancient glory, facing out to sea. Vigilant of invaders.
However, this is all superstition, and legend.
