Games and Dragons || Touko x Kris
It was not surprise that the moment Touko found out about the game corner in Goldenrod City, the overly eager girl made her way through the crowded streets of the third largest town in the Pokémon World in order to get to it. While the department store located there as well might have piqued the interest of most tourists, Touko was completely different in that mindset. She hated shopping with a passion. She disliked the activity so much that it came at a close tie to her hatred of cold weather (though if she were forced to choose between the two, she’d definitely choose shopping).
“Uwah~ I wish there were more places like this in Nimbasa! This place is great!”
Her sapphire eyes scanned the inside of the building after she walked through their sliding glass doors, adrenaline coursing through her body as her excitement skyrocketed. Her childhood friends wouldn’t have found it an unusual sight, but the people around her couldn’t help but spare her skeptical glances as she all but skipped further into the casino-like building. The first thing she did was wander over to the counter where a list of all the prizes one could win was displayed.
‘They have Pokémon as prizes?’
Touko hadn’t expected that. When she went to inquire to one of the cashier’s how exactly that worked, and they informed her that some people traded the Pokémon in or someone higher above catches it and supplies it to the game corner. Touko nodded, understanding what the cashier had informed her. Her eyes traveled back up to the list, taking in the names of the many Pokémon available before stopping on one that caught her attention.
‘Dratini?’
“Hey,” the cashier looked over at her expectantly, “what is a Dratini?”
“You mustn’t be from around here not to know that much,” the cashier rummaged under the counter for a moment before pulling out a log book of sorts, flipping through the pages until he found what he was looking for, “here, we don’t normally do this, but this is the Dratini we have available right now.”
Touko’s eyes scanned the page when the cashier turned the book to face her, and almost instantly she fell in love with the Pokémon staring back at her.
“I want it.”
With a determined nod (and vaguely noting it was the costliest Pokémon prize on the list), she turned on her heels before the cashier could say another word and went to trade in her saved up money for coins. Whether she ended up broke or not after this, she was so set on obtaining the Dratini that she could have cared less about the thought.
“Yosh! Let’s do this!”
