Cold Hands
My next little fic is based on Aurore/Marinette, for sure a rare pair that I don't see often (outside of the excellent "Leave for Mendeleiev" by @imthepunchlord, cannot recommend that story enough.) I hope everyone enjoys! I have three pairings more planned after this for @mlrarepairmonth

She would forget her gloves today, of all days. Aurore knew she was going to be doing field work outside, on what the news called the coldest day of the year. Though of course, she knew better than to make such a bold prediction, as it can always get colder later in the winter and just what kind of weather person would make that outrageous claim...
...but it didn't solve her predicament. If anything it just reminded her further that her hands would be useless to try and make the weather monitoring instruments work if they kept getting rained on and blasted by the cold wind. Even her trusted umbrella couldn't really help, as it was too short and couldn't be propped up against anything.
Aurore sighed. A wasted afternoon. A futile effort. A possible failing grade incoming on this assignment, and how would that look? A long commute, to a park that was outside of Paris. All because she forgot a stupid pair of gloves.
Well, no. That was incorrect. They weren't stupid at all, they were made specifically for her, by her girlfriend. Anything that her partner made she treasured and wore with pride. It was this situation she found herself in, yes, that was stupid-
-but not as much as seeing a figure in the distance, walking steadily in her direction. A very familiar figure.
“Marinette! What are you doing out here, you'll catch cold-”
“Not as cold as you'll get, you forgot your gloves, silly!”
Her partner held them out in her gloved hands; the matching pair. Dark blue and gold patterns interlocking to form a deep weave of wool, Marinette's had blue as the dominant colour, while Aurore's had gold. Putting them on quickly, she then lightly pecked the other girl on the cheek.
“It must have taken you at least an hour to get out here.”
“An hour and a half actually, but the moment I saw you left your gloves behind I knew you'd be in trouble. After all, the weather person said today was supposed to be the coldest of the year!”
A scowl crossed her face as Marinette giggled and then went over to pick up Aurore's umbrella. Opening it, she held it up and put them both under its cover.
“We could have done this together, Aurore. I would help you just as much as I know you'd do the same in return.”
She was right, of course. It would have been easier. Aurore knew there was a struggle in that, in letting Marinette into her world when she was used to being self-reliant...perhaps to her detriment, as this day had proven.
Taking a hold of the umbrella and a gloved hand, she resolved to do better on this front.
“Not the best of ideas for a date, my love.”
“Well...then I guess I can just watch the weather. And spend time with you. What could be better?”
Aurore pulled in and kissed Marinette on the lips. It may have still been cold out, but the warmth was rising fast.
