Hey, so something I really wanna talk about as an Aussie who is very clued into a lot of the shiz the rest of the world's media is dumping with regards to the whole "Australia is on Fire" thing: while bushfires are normal here, and have been for centuries, the scale of the ones we have right now coupled with the fact the country is still in the middle of a drought does not make things easy. I know there are medias out there around the world saying that Australia has been the problem of global warming and now the country is burning in karma - while I will not say we don't shoulder a proportion of the blame, I know we've been trying for a decade to minimise part of our "footprint" - eg most homes in qld are fitted with solar now, and kids learn in primary about saving energy and lessening their global footprints. Part of the fire catastrophe is due to the government's inability to conduct regular backburning to lessen the fires impact when they hit. Keyword: lessen, not stop. Fires in Australia are inevitable (even if there are Aussies who forget or ignore this fact). There are many factors that come into play when you live in a fire loving environment and if you are one of those people out there who is believing what the media is going on about (like why, I think everyone *knows* by now that the media skews shiz and needs to be taken with a grain of salt), just.... idek, maybe research what happens when fire, heat and drought mix then come back here with your findings to tell me Straya is killing the planet if you can. I'm open to talk about this more if people are interested in what's happening.
