Great book launch last night for @tanaudel’s Queensland gothic novel HONEYEATER with Barbie Robinson at the Book Cow! Loved the spooky reading, and hearing about the interplay between Kathleen’s visual art and writing, and how much fun the gothic is. How stunning is that cover too 🥀 🪲 🖤 📚

Great launch last night of Lost Souls Issue 2 at Gang Gang Cafe with Ben O’Mara, @cztacks + fantastic dark, haunting readings from @fionnmacpherson, S.R. Underschultz, Dr Cobi Calyx, Imogen Wall + music from Brendan Vincent! Sorry a lot of my photos did not turn out but I got a couple (ditto signatures, I will have to collect them all), so lovely to see/meet everyone! A joy to do the cover art + have a reprint “Integrated Learning” included (first published in Aurealis 166 and shortlisted for an Aurealis Award) about hiveminds, first love, and the horrors of group assignments. Bit more info on cover sketches—inspired by striking imagery from many stories including Aaron Dries’ “Kookaburra Cruel” + Eugen Bacon‘s “Memories of the Old Sun,” went with the latter as we wanted rainbow 🌈 ✨ So Aaron please consider this concept sketch fanart of your incredible story!
