Silicon headcanon: Sinon has self esteem issues and Silica constantly tells her she's beautiful and perfect and no ones as amazing as her. Also when she has bouts of PTSD, Silica always does her best to pick up on it before she has a panic attack and holds her and tells her it's going to be okay before things get too bad.

Naturally, Sinon appreciates Silica’s support greatly. She constantly wishes she could do more for Keiko in return (she does help her out a lot, but she never finds it enough), so she’d probably start trying to be more openly affectionate to show her appreciation.

Lisbeth is in the middle of repairing and refining Asuna’s Lambent Light, pouring everything she has into making it even better than it was before it got wrecked in that Boss fight, when the quiet words come. Instantly, she freezes, automatically tightening her grip on her hammer so she doesn’t drop it.
Turning to Asuna with wide, wondering eyes, a confused, embarrassed squeak leaves her mouth before she remembers herself. Swallowing, she straightens and, taking a deep, if willowy, breath, smiles sweetly over at her friend.
“A compliment like that would be better spent on you,” she protests modestly, laughing nervously and blushing, waving her free hand to both dismiss it and pay it back. “You’re wasting it on someone like me.” Still, that doesn’t stop her from melting outright. “Thank you, Asuna. It’s nice to hear something sweet now and then.”

They’re sitting side-by-side on Asuna’s bed, virtual reality helmets in their laps. Rika is looking toward the far wall, Asuna the bedspread. Neither’s said a word in several minutes.
They’d just barely survived a PKer ambush in ALO.
No one’s been able to explain it for sure quite yet (though Kazuto has a grim theory), but in the past month and a half, more and more Player Killers have begun popping up in each of the game’s territories. Some of them have chosen to work alone, but most have formed guilds. Many elite players, SAO survivors in particular, have been doing their best to curb their activities for weeks now, and yet with more and more sprouting every day, it seems almost impossible.
But they won’t give up. They wouldn’t have survived those two years in SAO if they were that quick to roll over.
Still, that doesn’t mean it’s not hard for them, that it doesn’t bring back unwanted memories. While the majority of the players are only disturbed and can push past the shreds of remembrance, some are more sensitive than that. A few times, said members have been crippled in the middle of a battle and have either had to be saved by a fellow player or been killed before help could arrive. Thankfully, in this game, those players merely regenerated or were revived, but such happenings have triggered other members’ breakdowns as well. There’s been talk of a weeding-out process, but no more than that just yet. It’s not like it’s the survivors’ fault, after all. They can’t help it.
That said, the PKers themselves are getting increasingly more precise and deadly, learning and adapting at alarming rates. Sometimes it’s like they’re not even human. That thought, one every SAO player had about PKers at least once while trapped in that hell, makes even the toughest ones’ skin crawl.
The attempted assassins today were especially ruthless. Clearly, they’d had something against the one and only Lightning Flash. Maybe they were ex-Laughing Coffin or some other orange or red guild from SAO, maybe they didn’t like how she was practically leading the assault against them, or maybe they just didn’t like her telling them what to do - but whatever the case, in the end, they took it a step too far.
And that’s when it all went wrong.
“What was I supposed to do,” Rika demands at last, looking over at her, “just let you die?” Her eyes narrow, and she snatches up the older girl’s hand and squeezes. “Hell, no! Even if we won’t really die in ALO, you know why I took that axe for you! You know why I’ll do it a thousand more times, why I would have back in SAO if it’d come down to it! I’m sorry I scared you, but I won’t apologize for protecting you! You’re my best friend—!”
All at once, everything stops. Asuna is pressing her lips against hers, and Rika is wide-eyed and frozen in shock. She doesn’t even dare to breathe. Then, almost as soon as it started, Asuna pulls back, and a furiously blushing Rika can only stare. She swears her lips are tingling, but that might just be her imagination. When her voice returns, all that comes is a strangled, high-pitched whisper.
“What…what the hell was that about…?”

At the words, a bleary-eyed Rika lifts her head from her arms to find her best friend standing in front of her desk and looking down at her in concern. Damn it. So she’d noticed, huh? Not that Rika’d been doing a very good job of hiding her exhaustion, admittedly, but hey, it’s been about a week since she’s had a decent night’s sleep. Sue her.
Still, that doesn’t mean she wanted Asuna to clue in. She hadn’t wanted anyone to find out. The last thing she wants to do is worry them, especially over something that haunts them all from time to time.
And yet, the fact of the matter is, Asuna has noticed, and Rika knows better than anyone besides Kazuto that there’s no denying the Lightning Flash when she’s checking up on a loved one’s well-being. Sighing wearily, she hangs her head a moment before gradually bringing it back up to meet Asuna’s eyes. It’s now or never.
Slowly, very slowly, she shakes her head.
“Nightmares,” she whispers, unable to keep her voice from shaking the slightest bit as memories play in her mind’s eye. She rubs her eyes and blinks hard, trying to chase away at least a smidgen of the exhaustion blanketing her. Neither effort does any good. Huffing softly through her nose, she returns her attention to Asuna and offers a small, hopefully-reassuring smile, voice a bit stronger now. “Don’t worry about me, okay? They’ll go away e–” a large yawn interrupts, “–eventually…” Slumping in her chair once more, she drops her chin into her hand and lets her eyes slip shut. Her free fingers find the older girl’s and squeeze. “They always do.”
